Very near the beach and Haystack Rock in what is becoming the entertainment and beach fun center of Cannon Beach. Fully fenced patio and decks with fire pit, room for families, and a fully stocked modern kitchen.

The space

Please see note at bottom:

This is a wonderful, two story 1400 square foot beach cottage in the queen of Oregon beach communities, Cannon Beach, Oregon. The beach is only an easy block and one half away - access opens to Haystack Rock, an icon of the US west coast.

The beach provides miles of beautiful sand - often rated the best walking beach in the country. There are two private bedrooms with queen beds. The master bedroom downstairs opens onto the deck. There is a smaller bedroom upstairs and a great room that provides semi-private sleeping for four additional persons on a queen futon and two chair/single-sleeper futons. This area is ideal for children. Privacy screens are available for use if desired.

The house has a full modern kitchen with all appliances, cookware and dishes. The kitchen is part of a larger space with dining and sitting areas adjacent to a wood stove that adds a wonderful touch to an evening of visiting with family or friends. There is also baseboard heating for cool times when a fire is not desired.

There are full bathrooms upstairs and downstairs. The lower bathroom has a shower and the upper, a large jaccuzzi soaking tub. Cable TV and wireless internet are provided as well as a netflix device and a few board games.

Outside, there is a large fenced patio and fire pit with wrap-around decks that keep children and pets safe from wandering. A propane barbecue grill is available as are beach chairs. Outdoor patio furniture may be stored during the winter months. The beach is an easy block and one-half stroll and is beautiful after dark with the bonfires people build to stay warn and look at the starry skies.

It is a 10 minute walk to downtown Cannon Beach with its shops, galleries, and restaurants. However, if you choose to stay closer to home, there are restaurants, a liquor store, coffee roaster, glassblower, wonderful curio store, bank and critical amenities within a few blocks of the house in mid-town Cannon Beach.

This is a private home like others listed on this service. We use it for beach escapes so there are a limited number of personal items in closets and dressers. Feel free to borrow warm clothing or other items in the event that something critical got left at home in the rush to head off on your Cannon Beach vacation.

Note - Cannon Beach has highly restrictive rental policies to protect residents and guests alike - this limits available rental periods. Be sure to book early. Pricing listed in the pane to the right will vary somewhat depending on season. The pricing quoted in your reservation request will reflect these differences. Longer rental periods (between one week and one month) may qualify for reduced pricing. Please send me an inquiry.

Guest access

Full kitchen, Internet, streaming services, beach chairs and toys, fully fenced deck and patio with fire pit, private parking, jacuzzi tub, wood stove/baseboard heating.

Interaction with guests

Generally, you will check in by yourself and your hosts will not be present during your stay. Neighbors do keep on eye on the property and are available in the event of a lost key etc. However, please call your host with any needs or requests before contacting neighbors or Airbnb staff. Full access information will be made available a few weeks before your stay.

Other things to note

This is a beach community. In the event of storms or other acts of nature there may be a rare outage of power, cable TV, or internet services. This is a very infrequent occurrence but it can happen. If it is necessary for you to have power or internet access in order to work from the beach, please be aware that no such guarantee is made as part of the rental. Up time for these services is likely 99% so any outage is highly unusual.

No large parties exceeding six persons without prior permission of the owner. Events that you might host that include more than 10 people must have the prior permission of the owner as well. This is to protect the privacy and parking opportunities of neighbors. Generally, some accommodation can be made but let's talk about it first.

A cleaning fee of $75 pertains. This fee is based on the expectation that guests do most of the light cleaning themselves (dishes, basic pick-up, replacing furniture to original location, removing their food from the refrigerator, etc.). The housekeeper does expect to do a few loads of laundry (sheets, towels etc) after your departure. However, if your stay generates excess laundry (we have had up to seven loads left behind) please wash and dry as necessary throughout your stay. We live at some distance from the house so appreciate your consideration in this matter.

No smoking inside the house.

Pets accepted only by prior approval of the host. Pets may not run free in the neighborhood and all pet "residue" is to be removed.

Please respect our neighbors by keeping the noise at a reasonable level at night - particularly if outside on the patio.

During the cold months there is always firewood for inside use. At other times of the year there MAY be firewood for you to use in the fire pit at no extra charge. However, during certain times of year the local wood-cutters may be out of seasoned wood and finding wood to buy in quantity is difficult or impossible. Under these conditions you may need to buy bundles of wood commercially to use.

If you do make fires outside, please understand that large fires in the firepit consume a great deal of wood. Please limit your outside fires to a pleasant blaze. The cost of wood at the beach is considerable and I would like to continue to offer this service whenever possible to my guests. Please quench outside fires when done.

There is a hot tub on the premises but it is for host use only. Returning guests may remember that the tub was previously available. Unfortunately, it is very difficult for an off-site owner to maintain the tub properly and this amenity is no longer available.

Cleaning supplies are provided but any other goods that are used should be replaced as appropriate.

Notify owners in the event that necessary supplies are running low or if there is accidental breakage of any kind.

Steve's place is a beautiful Cannon Beach hideaway. It's a cool house with a large A-frame top floor family room and a cute outdoor fire pit front area. We ended up getting in late the first night but had no problem with checking into the house as Steve left very clear instructions before arrival. He was a super communicative host and I hope we have the pleasure of staying at his place again.

Steve's place is amazing! It's minutes to all the best parts of Cannon Beach (Haystack Rock, Sleepy Monk, & Cannon Beach Hardware). We walked to the majority of the sights in town, which is a HUGE feature for me. The kitchen was well equipped. We had a surf & turf whipped up for four in a snap. The outdoor grill made short work of the steaks. Everyone had a wonderful evening. The wood stove was awesome, kept the space warm - perfect for coming back from the beach chilled & slightly damp. Tons of space to hang out, read, & socialize. The patio & upstairs living rooms are bigger than the pictures show. The only downsides were: The water heater is a little too small to have a bath in the jetted tub upstairs & a hot shower downstairs in short order. Like other reviews, sound really travels in the house with exposed beams & flooring on the second floor. Steve reached out multiple times in the days running up to the reservation, including tips on how to get there & how to get around town, etc. Super responsive & very friendly. I'm mulling over when we could come back already.

Our family spent a long weekend at Steve's place and couldn't have picked a more perfect spot. The only downside is we wish we could have stayed longer! It is a quick, easy walk to the beach and right around the corner from great restaurants. We loved waking up, grabbing coffee at the Sleepy Monk, and strolling the beach. Steve is a top notch host and we would love to return in the future!

It IS Family Perfection! We stayed here on a family trip and found everything we needed to have a successful short vacation at Cannon Beach. We were a few minutes walk to the sand of Cannon Beach right near Haystack Rock, around the corner from excellent coffee (Sleepy Monk) and a short drive (1.5 miles) to a superior grocery store (Fresh Foods). The property was clean and fully stocked with kitchen and bedding supplies and the little details that make the rental feel like 'home.' We had multiple areas to spend quality family time together, but of course we were there for the beach. And I loved the beach cottage vibe of the house. Just FYI there are two bedrooms and two living rooms, the lower one is a dining/kitchen/sitting area, and the upstairs area is a large "romp room" with a fold out futon for extra sleeping arrangements. We never used the TV so I can't comment on what was available with that, but we were able to get the most of our time together at this AirBNB! Also Steve, the host was a great communicator, easily available and provided lots of useful information. Thanks Steve!!

Great location!!! Everything you can possibly need is there. I am Apple TV challenged so that was a little issue for me but we weren't there to watch tv!! The house is a little privacy challenged with the ceiling between floors (although very beautiful) is thin so everything that is said or done can be heard. Sitting around the fire pit was wonderful. Being able to walk down the street for coffee and doughnuts was to die for!! The wood stove was cozy and put out great heat. Furniture and beds are all very comfortable!!
