Aptly named Werona – Aboriginal for ‘quiet’, this charming 1930s weather-boarded cottage, situated in the historic village of Burrawang, in the Southern Highlands of Australia’s NSW, is the epitome of peaceful, rural charm.

With a tiny population of 300 and only a 'General Store' cafe and a quintessential pub 'The Burrawang Hotel', the village feels like a picturesque movie set, with quaint timber cottages set along maple tree-lined avenues.

The space
The cottage was renovated to meet the highest standards of luxe comfort - from an electric aga stove, reversed cycle heating, heated bathroom floors & towel rails, and of course a log fire.

Throughout the interior designer choices are informed by a play between English and Australian nuances – incorporating use of bolder heritage colours, mixed with thoughtfully sourced antique and new furniture and objet; and a mix of both traditional and contemporary art.

Where you’ll be

Burrawang, New South Wales, Australia

Burrawang is a gorgeous historic little village. Take a leisurely stroll around its streets and enjoy some of the pretty cottages and gardens it has on offer. There are no shops, but a great General Store cafe and the Burrawang pub which has beautiful views from the beer garden at the back. Roberson is just a 5 minute drive away for local amenities, and the towns of Moss Vale and Bowral are just 15-20 minutes by car and provide an array of great shops, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants.
