This place is close to everything, making it easy to plan your visit. You’re going to enjoy your stay at this creatively restored historic 1927 bungalow, with a wrap around porch you are going to have trouble pulling yourself away from. A short walk to uptown Lexington. This is your home away from home, with a full kitchen, den, washer/dryer, and so many extras you don’t expect to find while you are traveling.

The space
Home is where the art is! Full cottage with wrap around porch in a quiet neighborhood in the Lexington historic district. Tastefully renovated with unique artistic touches, art, and locally reclaimed materials. Centrally located, and a short walk to all that uptown Lexington has to offer.

We wish the home was handicapped accessible….but it IS NOT. When this home was built in 1927, accommodations just weren’t made for folks with limited mobility. The size and shape of the lot prevented us from being able to retrofit it to be more accommodating. In fact the few steps leading up from the street are rather steep. We have plans to replace them in the near future, but in the meantime you can take the less steep route through the left side of the yard, and even up the left side of the porch. We have found that route is a little easier for those of us with knees with a little more age on them.

Once you step onto this amazing porch, you will have forgotten all about the minor inconvenience of the steps or walking through the yard. In fact, you may never want to leave!

Where you’ll be

Lexington, North Carolina, United States

Lexington has experienced a surge of revitalization over the last several years. Uptown is booming with new restaurants, shops, even a new brewery and cider bar. Of course, you can also explore days of past with long standing favorites like Conrad & Hinkle Food Market, where folks have been buying their groceries for over a hundred years. Lexington is one of those rare towns that manages to blend it’s quaint, small town charm fairly seamlessly with progress.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the Yadkin River basin flows through Davidson county, and there are some great hiking trails and paddling opportunities in this area suitable even for beginners. High Rock Lake is a fishing and motor sports dream…but don’t wear white! It’s waters are known for their ability to convert your whites to southern clay red.

Of course, we can’t talk about Lexington without mentioning our world famous Lexington style barbecue. Ask 10 people in town who makes the best barbecue in town, and you will receive 10 different replies. But, hey, the fun is in deciding for yourself!

Come check it out, and see why out of all the places we have lived, we have chosen to make Lexington, NC our home.

After more than a decade committed to homesteading and homeschooling, our chicks have flown off to pursue their higher education dreams. We’ve found ourselves with a little more time for our creative interests these days. We have a passion for sustainability, and we have a passion for life. Too many of us go through this life distracted, blind to the beauty and wonder that is all around us. It is our desire to make small adjustments to the world around out that draw our attention away from the chaos of the current times, and unshackle our creativity. Our homes are filled with creative and beautiful surprises for you to discover during your stay. They are just tiny things. Their humble purpose is merely to make you smile. We look forward to meeting you! I’m going to make everything around me beautiful. That will be my life. ~Elsie de Wolfe I’ve learned that people will forget what you’ve said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. ~ Maya Angelou
