Aptly named Little Jem this super stylish ground floor apartment is set within a 1930’s period property in a private courtyard and benefits from a parking space. This cool and contemporary apartment is ‘as cute as a button’ & ideally suited for couples and friend its. Harlyn beach just 5 minutes away using a safe traffic free walking route via the coastal path (a great spot for winter storm watching and admiring the kite surfers). The PIG @ Harlyn Bay is also located only 5 minutes away.

The space
Little Jem has a Cornish seaside feel with quality fixtures and fittings throughout and a stylish vibe, this Little Jem is a great place to stay year round with efficient heating in all rooms and excellent WIFI speeds.

Pretty flower pots and two tiled steps lead to the personal entrance door. The top part of the door opens to allow fresh air and the sun’s rays to enter. The shoe cupboard keeps footwear tidy and the polished hardwood oak floor is easy to keep clean and free of sand. Glazed internal doors with roller blinds fitted to all and the plantation window shutters afford privacy whilst allowing plenty of light to flood in. The premium leather sofa with custom made Little Jem and Harlyn Bay cushions tucked into the corner of the living room ensures comfort and the feeling of spaciousness.

The Fibre 2 WIFI affords excellent speeds (70 mbps) and the Amazon Echo Show 5 and Samsung 42 inch smart TV allows for great media connection. Access to Netflix may be a welcome bonus. The handmade table with driftwood legs and pretty shells (mostly collected on Harlyn beach) and the comfy cocktail chairs positioned in front of the log fire place is a cosy place to chill – please don’t to tempted to play Jenga with the logs instead take a look in the side board to the side of the wine rack where you’ll find plenty of games.

The fully fitted kitchen with Indesit dishwasher, Bosch Tassimo coffee machine, kettle and toaster as well as the fridge freezer, induction hob, electric oven and Samsung ceramic microwave provide flexibility. You may take inspiration from the Rick Stein recipe book found to the side of the microwave (which could result in a trip to the fishmonger in Padstow or the Padstow Farm Shop) – With the dishes served up in the scallop shells on a platter or using the Rick Stein crockery your culinary delight will certainly be in tune with Cornish dining.

The King size bed with zip link flexibility (converting into 2 foot 6 twin beds) has 3000 sprung deluxe deep mattresses. The Fogarty duvets and a choice of Dorma medium/firm and soft pillows makes for a good nights’ sleep whatever your preference. The John Lewis Italian tall mirrored wardrobe and chest of drawers provides good storage and you’ll find the John Lewis ceramic hair dryer living in the top drawer. The Grohe electric shower provides instant hot water and has great pressure. The tall electric towel rail and oversized hooks for easy towel hanging tick more boxes. You’ll find a collapsible laundry basket and clothes airer behind the bathroom door.

The pictures and Natasha Chambers art work depict the beauty of the Seven Bays and surrounding area. The Tom Raffield pendant light positioned above the John Lewis dining table and chairs, and the locally handmade floor lamp and shade all pay homage to local tradespeople - with the floor lamp also acknowledging local fisherman who sat on the dolly to wash their fishing nets in days gone by.

We hope you love staying at our Little Jem as much as we do.

Between April and October we welcome weekly stays starting on a Sunday – a great travel day to avoid the infamous M5 queues that more so develop on a Friday and Saturday, and during the rest of the year we typically welcome short breaks arriving on a day to suit with a minimum stay of 3 nights.

Where you’ll be

Harlyn, England, United Kingdom

Harlyn Bay (voted one of UK’s Best Beaches by the Sunday Times) has plenty to offer. Being sheltered from the northerly winds, the golden sands – usually life guarded from early May to the end of September and at Easter offer something for everyone.

The long expanse of sandy beach makes for a lovely walk and is a great spot for BBQing. You’ll find rock pools and being more sheltered than other beaches close by, the surf is generally great for beginners and many surf schools operate lessons from Harlyn. Sea kayaking aligned with the tide times allows you to explore the smaller bays and pitch up on the beaches not accessible by foot. Hire is readily available from the beach including Stand Up Paddleboards. Kayaking tours and coasteering can also be arranged.

The PIG @ Harlyn Bay is less than 5 mins walk away – 3 fabulous restaurants and a courtyard garden. The Beachbox located on Harlyn beach offers a great selection of daytime snacks and coffees. Being only three miles from Padstow there really is something for everyone all year round.
