All about Andrew’s place

Villa Monziani, an exclusive 17thC lakefront house, one of the oldest on the island in the middle of Lake Orta, recently completely modernised, offers a peaceful and romantic stay in beautiful and historic surroundings, with private boat (10HP - no license required) guarantees full flexibility & our mainland locked garage included. We have 2nd larger 40HP boat/8 seater and a 2nd covered space in same parking garage, both for an extra fee. If less days are required please ask, perhaps can help.

The space
The house dates from 1637 and although recently modernised it maintains its traditional and antique character, and being at the moment the only house rented on the island it affords a unique opportunity for a special vacation, an event or a wedding reception (we have special access to the largest private garden on the island for an external wedding ball).

Where you’ll be

Orta San Giulio (Novara), Piedmont, Italy

A very magical atmosphere surrounds this island. The green hills of the pre-alpine lake and the small villages dotted on its shore give a feeling of tranquillity and peacefulness. Orta's very attractive 18th century houses, make a colourful backdrop to its square, which is like a parlour with cafes, benches under shady trees, arches hiding shops and the full view of the fascinating island of San Giulio.

Born in the Gulf to a British father and Italian mother, I lived my early years as a Bedouin until packed-off to a Jesuit boarding school for breeding in England, spending holidays visiting my old man's latest posting. He covered 21 countries in 30 years for HSBC, then since graduation from King's College London now residing in Milan for over 25 years, working first in outdoor advertising, then design and now as an English consultant for Italian international companies, copy-writing, translating and teaching phonetics. Our houses have been in Italian side of the family since their construction in the 17th & 18th century.

During your stay

We greet our guests in the main square in Orta, show them the garage and then go to the island via private boat or public transport, show them the ropes and answer all questions. It is essential that arrivals take place before 6pm in case of really bad weather as we would have to use a taxiboat to access the island. This has never happened yet but nature must not be taken lightly. On departure I'll come to the island to help you over or meet in Orta to retrieve house & garage keys. A drop off point can be arranged otherwise if need be. Recently the Prefecture of Novara require that holiday homes have to mandatory register passport details with 24 hours of all guests via registered email. We take care of that for you but please send me details in advance. All info will be sent to you via direct email before arrival.
