Welcome to Yash Lok -- your home away from home! I am your host Aparna. I co-host multiple studio apartments in Yash Lok along with my mother Usha Rani.

We do not have a background in the hospitality industry. However as an avid world traveler, I am well aware of the value of finding a ‘good place to stay, at the right price’. I don’t look for ‘bells-and-whistles’ when choosing accommodation, but instead focus on the following parameters: Central accessible location; Clean; Safe (even for a woman traveling alone); Private (non-intrusive hosts, independent access); Honest, transparent communication; Affordable.

I was personally looking for reasonably priced, safe and clean, temporary accommodation in the NCR region & struggled. This was the impetus for me to convince my mother to convert Yash Lok, my parents’ house in Noida, into an Airbnb. We are NOT competing in the luxury segment, nor are we striving for perfection—our commitment instead is to deliver on the above priorities. We offer a calm, peaceful homestay, full of sunshine & ventilation. Our studios are a good fit for guests who value serenity & simplicity.


Building (Yash Lok) and Apartment Overview:

Yash Lok has 3 levels. The 2nd floor is completely dedicated to guests; however you will NOT have the entire floor to yourself. There are 4 independent studio apartments on 4 corners of an open ‘aangan’/patio. Each apartment has a private entrance, bath and small private kitchenette with appliances. There is no common hall or kitchen. Guests share (open) common areas like the aangan/patio, balcony, roof terrace, stairway.

This listing is for Apt 4 — one of the 4 'studio’ apartments. By 'studio' apt we mean a large room with a king-size bed on one side, a small private kitchenette on the other and an attached private bath. This is NOT a 1BHK because there is no hall, and the kitchenette is on one side of the room. This is an apartment (and not a private room) because it has an independent entrance and is not part of another house. It has 2 exterior doors - 1 leads to a tiny private balcony & the other to an open aangan/patio. The aangan provide access to the stairway (there is no elevator) that leads to the driveway and building exterior; guests do not need to enter the first floor or ground floor apartments on their way in and out of the building. The aangan also has an iron ladder that leads to the roof terrace.

The building sits on a corner lot, flooded with natural light & excellent ventilation. There is plenty of free, secure parking onsite -- both on the driveway as well as outside the building. The security guards for sector 19, block A have their kiosk right outside the building and man it 24X7. The sector 18 metro station is 650 meters away. We also usually have auto rickshaws, cycle rickshaws and cabs parked outside the building.


Neighborhood:

Yash Lok lies in the heart of the bustling sector 18-19 area of Noida. Everything from grocery stores & fruit/vegetable vendors to restaurants, malls, hospitals, banks, theaters etc are easily walkable (within a range of 200 meters to 2 kilometers). It is 110m from Max Hospital, 200m from Atta Market and its hawkers, fruit/vegetable vendors etc; 400 meters from the bustling Sector 18 market with its malls, restaurants, grocery stores, banks, theaters etc; 750m from DLF Mall of India -- considered one of the largest shopping malls in India & spread over 2 million sq. ft. For fitness enthusiasts, the Noida Stadium with its 2 mile jog/walk/bicycle track is a 2km walk along Tulsi Marg; the stadium is open to the public and entrance is free.


Level-setting Expectations:

No place is perfect for every guest. Guest satisfaction is a function of fit. Before you book, please read below so you know what to expect.

- Our promise & priorities — Located in safe, central (walking distance to all amenities), residential neighborhood; on main road (Tulsi Marg) in heart of Noida & close to Delhi (specific distances on slide in pictures). Focus on cleanliness. Forthright & transparent communication. For the location & amenities provided, prices are significantly below market rate.

- Our ‘no-frills’ policy — AirBnbs have a wide range, from budget to high-end luxury, & are priced accordingly. For us, delivering on our promise while keeping our studios as affordable as possible, is a top priority. We provide essential amenities (details below) needed to make the travel experience comfortable, & avoid any ‘frills’ that will force us to increase the nightly room rate (e.g. NO entertainment options — TV, gaming consoles; NO washing machines/dryers, microwaves etc).

- Our 5-star ratings — The Airbnb rating system is rather different from the hotel rating system. A common joke among Airbnb hosts is: “If you are coming back, rate us a 5; if you never want to return, rate us a 4”. 4 stars (or below) ratings can very quickly shut down small BnBs, & anytime a guest rates us a 4, we assume they will not return. Most guests have graciously rated us 5 star; not because we are a hotel or luxury BnB or are perfect (or even strive to be), but because we work very hard to make our guests’ stay as comfortable as possible. We are responsive & take constructive feedback seriously. A significant number of guests return and/or extend their stay. A 5-star rating simply means “We had a good experience especially considering the price we paid, and we would be happy to return/extend our stay”.

- Cleaning — complimentary daily maid & sweeper service. During your stay — the maid will sweep the room, mop it with floor disinfectant, clean the dishes & dust the apartment; the sweeper will clean the bathroom & toilet bowl. Our staff thoroughly deep cleans the apartment between guest stays. Our staff also washes the aangan, balconies and sweeps plus mops the stairway on a regular basis. Since our staff visits the house only for a few hours, the cleaning hours are fixed. We will not be able to accommodate requests to clean the apartment at other times during the day.

While the above cleaning is complimentary, we do charge a ‘linen fee’/‘cleaning fee’ of Rs 250 per reservation which is the one-time laundering cost our washerman charges us. Our washerman deep cleans all bedsheets, pillow covers, blanket covers, & towels between guest stays and the cleaning fee goes directly to him. This fee ensures we are able to cover this expense (especially for very short stays) without having to increase the overall nightly room rate. If you would like us to change bed linen and/or towels during your stay, we will gladly do so. However you will need to pay our washerman for this service on a per-piece basis.

- Check-in/Check-out time — Check-in is between 1:00 pm and 10:00 pm; check-out is at 11:00 am sharp. Because we are usually booked back-to-back, and our staff needs to deep-clean each apartment between guest stays, and our staff has fixed cleaning hours, we have NO FLEXIBILITY FOR EARLY CHECK-INs or LATE CHECK-OUTs.

- Support — My cousin lives on the ground floor with his family. He helps guests check-in & provides day-to-day support. For any issues/escalation, I am available on Airbnb chat; however since I am out of the country, there might be a time lag in my response.

- No Elevator — The studios are on the 2nd floor & there is no elevator. Since we do not have full-time staff, guests have to carry their own luggage up the stairs.

- Critters — Noida is infested with mosquitoes, ants, mice, lizards, squirrels etc. While we have proactively made arrangements to keep them away from the apartments (mosquito repellent vaporizer, rat-traps, lizard sticky pads, ant-sprays, disinfectant & insect repellent floor mop), this is a continuous battle. So anytime you come to stay with us, you will see this ammunition in action.

- Water pressure — Water pressure in showers is on the lower side; we have thus provided buckets & mugs for bath purposes (our maid cleans these between guest stays).

- Water quality — The water quality in Noida is poor (residue in tap water). We provide bottled water for drinking/cooking purposes in campers/jugs.

- Summer months — While we have provided ACs & fans, the studios are on the top floor & peak summer months could get uncomfortable (especially for those particularly intolerant to heat).

- No toilet paper — We have bidets/hand jets in our toilets & not toilet paper because of its adverse environmental impact.

- Guest register & Govt. ID — All guests staying at the property need to sign a guest register & share their Govt. ID (we will take a picture). Given we have multiple guests staying in our different apartments, for our guests’ safety, we MANDATORILY ID EVERY GUEST staying overnight.

- Wi-Fi — Airtel broadband (internet speed upto 40Mbps, unlimited data); connection shared between 2 apartments.

- King-size bed with mattress, cotton mattress topper and extra soft pillows, freshly laundered cotton bedsheets and cotton pillow covers, comforter blanket with freshly laundered cotton quilt cover, bedspread and decorative pillows. 1 single seater sofa that can convert to single bed. Available upon request (at additional fee) for add-on guests: cotton mattress, bedsheet, pillow and comforter blanket.

- Study desk & chair with seat-cushion, side table, lamps, jute rug, moodhas/ottomans.

- Wardrobe with plenty of storage, hangers, clothes iron, hair dryer.

- Private Kitchenette with — induction burner, mixer/grinder/blender, sandwich toaster/panini maker, pressure cooker, kadhai, saucepan, frying pan, paraat (to knead atta/dough etc), chakla belan set, tawa, pair of tongs (chimta), mortar-pestle, ladle/kadchi (for dal/curry, deep frying), palta (to flip), chopping knives, tea strainer, serving bowls, dinner plates, quarter plates, bowls, spoons/forks/knives, tea/coffee mugs, glasses (water, cold coffee, beer), dustbin, dishwashing soap and scrub. Also included are drinking water, loose tea, creamer, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper.

- Private Bathroom with — freshly laundered towels, bath soap, hand wash, shampoo, detergent. We provide bidets/jet sprays & not toilet paper because of their adverse environmental impact.

- Clothes drying rack

- Laundry service (wash & iron) is available on a fee per piece basis — please ask.

- Please do not litter the apartment or the common areas. Please do not disturb the other residents/neighbors. Please treat everyone on the property as well as the property with respect.

To check-in you will need to share a govt. ID (for every guest staying at the property), and fill a guest register. We will take a picture of the ID. This is a step we take to ensure our guests' safety -- given we have multiple guests staying at Yash Lok in our different studios, it is important that we ID each guest before we let them into the apartments.

At the moment, my cousin resides on the ground floor with his family, and will help you with check-in/check-out, directions, or any other day-to-day help you may need. I have shared his phone no. in the check-in instructions. Feel free to call him if you need help with something.

Alternately you can reach me directly via airbnb chat. However please be aware that I am currently out of the country and while I try to respond fairly quickly, there will be a time lag in my response for messages sent during my night time (EST).
