The space
We strive to live a sustainable life while still enjoying life's little luxuries. Our main house and multiple features around the property were built with strawbales, and other waste materials. The guest house was built with mostly salvaged and recycled materials. The guest house is a 900+ square foot studio with private access from the driveway. You have an actual queen bed - not an inflatable mattress. The bath is a 3/4 bath with a huge shower. The living space has a large entertainment center with a 55" TV. The sound system will make you feel like you are right in the middle of the action. Relax in the overstuffed chair while you read a book or listen to the vintage sound system. If you are a music lover or audiophile, you'll feel right at home here. Musician friendly, instruments available - be inspired for your next album or even record in the beauty and quiet of the desert! The kitchenette is fully stocked and has everything you need to prepare simple meals plus there is an outdoor grill. The property is five acres with hiking, horseback riding, and dual sport trails leading off the property. Stargazers are not to be left out, we have super dark skies, perfect for stargazing with great views of the night sky with the naked eye. Bring your telescope or use ours for an even more breathtaking view. You can welcome the day watching the sun come up over the hills behind the house while practicing your favorite yoga pose and end the day enjoying the sunset over the San Jacinto mountains sitting at the firepit with your favorite drink.
In order to keep us all as safe as possible, we are changing some of the ways we do things and are asking some things from you as well.
*Mark and I are fully vaccinated now!*
We will not be accepting guests 24 hours before or after your stay
We are not allowing any outside guests at this time
We do not do a personalized walkthrough any longer but do try to greet our guests upon arrival and introduce ourselves and answer any questions you might have. This is done outside on the driveway.
As well as our regular cleaning we are using bleach or alcohol to disinfect all high touch areas
Masks are still required in some places locally for everyone and definitely if you are not vaccinated. Please be prepared. Onsite we are following California mask mandates and no longer requiring them at check in as we are outside. Otherwise, it is very easy to physically distance with each other much more than the suggested 6 foot when in common spaces like the backyard.
We will be asking some additional COVID specific screening questions as well as the regular questions we ask to ensure a great experience prior to accepting your reservation. Please understand that we are relying on the honor system when answering these questions. We thank you for your understanding and truthfulness. Together we will not only hopefully make your stay an excellent one but keep everyone safe as we navigate these unusual times.

Where you’ll be

Desert Hot Springs, California, United States

Sky Valley is a unincorporated rural area just north of Palm Springs. It is an old area started from the homesteaders building the underground canal from the Colorado River to Riverside. You have a mix of properties from "old desert rats", "snowbirds", horse ranches, nurseries and everything in between.

I live just outside of Palm Springs, CA with Mark, my husband of almost 30 years. Our two kids are grown - our son lives in Hawaii and our daughter in Oceanside. When I'm not working on our property, I volunteer - I'm the Special Events Coordinator for the Desert Horticultural Society and also the Garden Coordinator for Palm Spring High School. I have varied interests from hiking to concerts. I absolutely love living here in our desert paradise! We have all this beauty and tranquility surrounding us and yet we are two hours away from whatever we want to do - beaches, L.A., mountains, lake, Mexico, etc. What more could you ask for?
