This is a private Japanese-style guest studio and teahouse with its own entrance, ensuite bathroom, stone patio, and natural bamboo outdoor heated shower. Perfect for a solo or couples retreat, it is located on the first floor of a private house in a peaceful West Marin setting with views of the valley. Decorated and furnished with beautiful Japanese touches, the space includes a kitchenette, a tea table with floor seating on traditional tatami mats and a hightop table for eating or working.

The space
This adorable private Zen tea and guesthouse is a unique experience for a getaway amidst the nature, culture, parks and beaches of West Marin. It’s a product of my love of Japan, where I lived for a year, and the Western Gate [R]evolutionary Teahouse and Book Commons I co-founded (which had another incarnation as a Tea Museum in nearby Lagunitas). The kitchenette has a mini-fridge, hot plate, microwave, and slow cooker for you to prepare simple meals. Fast Wi-Fi and TV in the space. Note there is no oven or indoor shower/bath.

I have lived in the San Geronimo Valley for a decade and work at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, so I love to provide meditative spaces. I also lived and worked in Japan and owned a teahouse and bookstore, so I bring that sensibility to this special Zen retreat space.
