Our holiday cottage apartment dates back to the 17th century and is a lovely stone-built, first floor apartment, situated above the locally renowned Eyam Tea Rooms in the heart of Eyam village.

Eyam is known as the Plague village following an outbreak of bubonic plague in 1665 and the self imposed isolation by the villagers.

Eyam is in an ideal location within the Peak District national park, close to historic Chatsworth House, and the pretty market town of Bakewell.

Where you’ll be

Eyam, England, United Kingdom

The village of Eyam earned the title 'The Plague Village' following an outbreak of bubonic plague in 1665 and the self imposed isolation by the villagers. The disease killed most of the inhabitants and there are plaques on the buildings throughout Eyam which explain how many people died there. It makes for a very interesting walk through the village.

The property is a stone's throw from the Miner's Arms pub where you can enjoy some lovely home cooked food. There are a couple of local shops and a post office.

Eyam Hall is open for tours at various times of the year and also boasts a courtyard and a restaurant.

I run Eyam Tea Room accommodation with Lesley. We have been friends since our boys played together as young children. Neither of us hail from the Peak District but we consider ourselves extremely fortunate that we can call this beautiful area home. I am a Learning Consultant by day but deal with the communication and bookings for the accommodation at all other times. I live in a neighbouring village called Froggatt with my husband and teenage son. Lesley has a background in social care, but now owns the Tea Room under the accommodation. She deals with all the day to day management of the property, so you will probably meet her when you arrive. She lives in the neighbouring village of Stoney Middleton with her partner, two sons and Nez the rescue dog.

If you have any problems during your stay, please contact Lesley. You will usually find her in the Tea Rooms during the day and you can reach her on her mobile phone number (which I provide to you just prior to your arrival) at any other time.
