Where you’ll be

Kent, England, United Kingdom

Whitstable Tiny house is minutes away from the high street and the beach! With a multitude of things to do! Here are a few...

Places to Visit

Walk along the beach - Looking towards the sea, if you turn right at the Neptune you’ll head towards the harbour and Tankerton where you’ll be able to eat and drink at many beachside bars, cafes and restaurants. If you turn left at the Neptue you will walk along West Beach which is a nice walk and less busy with tourists in the summer but no cafe’s/bars on the seafront.

The Street - A shingle strip about half a mile long that extends out from Tankerton Beach. Exposed at low tide and well worth looking up the tide times so you can time your visit to walk out to the end

The Harbour - Quintessentially English harbour with fishing boats and huts selling fresh fish. Huts at the far end of the harbour sell a real mixture of wares including arts, crafts and street food. Restaurants on the harbour offer a nice place to sit and people watch but you definitely pay more for the location.

Whitstable Castle and Gardens - 5 minutes walk from the harbour, between Tankerton and Whitstable. Serve simple lunches and cream teas in their pretty gardens.

Harbour Street - A street of independent shops selling books, clothes, gifts and more.

Places to eat

JoJo’s - Slightly out of town but a nice walk along the beach to Tankerton. Serves delicious meze plates. Lots of fish dishes but also lots for vegetarians. I recommend booking in advance.

Harbour Street Tapas - Lovely tapas restaurant on the popular Harbour Street

Farm and Harper - A nice place for lunch and they have a small outside area out the back in the summer.

Grain and Hearth - This bakery is a relatively new addition to Whitstable and we are VERY pleased to have it here. The pastries are amazing. You have to try one of their famous Cruffins!

Nomad Pizza - Takeaway pizza, just around the corner from the cabin

Castellum Pizzeria - Takeaway and eat in pizza restaurant, just around the corner from the cabin

Blueprint Coffee - Really good coffee and a small but lovely selection of books. Just around the corner from the cabin.

Twelve Taps - Great little craft beer and gin bar with a small courtyard out the back

Amadea - A ‘half-croation’ cafe bar that opened last year, within stumbling distance from the cabin

The Seafarmers Dive - Craft beer bar on the seafront. Beer can be bought and drunk on the beach.

The Oyster Stores (upstairs at The Royal Native Oyster Stores) - Casual food, coffee and drinks with a homeware and gifts shop. Really lovely setting with comfy sofas and sea views. Open Fridays-Sundays

The Neptune - The well known ‘Neppie’ is the iconic pub on Whitstable seafront. Great for a beer on the beach on a sunny day.

Fish and chips - a few to choose from. We always go to Ossies which is a popular choice with locals and tourists. There’s also VC Jones on Harbour Street which are also very popular and have a sweet, retro dining area out the back. Chips here are cooked in beef fat which I’m sure make them very tasty!

Sundae Sundae - Excellent ice-cream. Always a queue out the door of this tiny, harbour street store on sunny days

The Forge - Waterside Oyster shack near the harbour. We haven’t had the Oysters but we can vouch for the freshly fried donuts.

Compasses Inn - Gastro pub. Bit of a drive (about 30 minutes) but a lovely country pub and excellent food. Will likely need to book in advance.

The Fordwich Arms - One michelin starred pub, 20 minutes away. Lovely setting. Would require booking.

The Three Mariners, Oare - Have a walk around Oare Marshes Nature Reserve and then a drink or meal at the village pub. 20 minutes drive.
