Your own private cabin with full kitchen, bath, and wifi on a peaceful hobby farm. Enjoy spectacular views of the Caribou Mountains from your own BBQ-equipped porch. Very child and family friendly with dozens of animals to see and toys to play with.

We have large friendly dogs and miniature horses, donkey, ducks, turkeys, chickens, cats, and a llama outside (never in the cabin). If you are scared of animals this is not a suitable place to stay.

No pets and no smoking anywhere.

The space

You have your own private cottage with a complete kitchen and bathroom, free wifi, electric heat, patio & BBQ. All set on a hobby farm with spectacular views of the Caribou Mountains, forests, and wetlands.

The cottage is setup as a bachelor suite (one room + bathroom) with a queen bed. The bathroom has a shower stall. There is no sink in the bathroom because it is small and the kitchen sink is immediately outside the bathroom.

There are flower gardens, an orchard, and a vegetable garden to picnic in. You can stroll around the 40 acres and see the various animals: dogs, cats, chickens, guinea fowl, turkeys (free range), ducks (free range), horses, miniature horses, miniature donkey, and (of course) a llama. We are very family and child friendly with lots of indoor and outdoor toys for the kids.

There is free WiFi in the cabin and around the property. If on one else is using it, we get about 3Mb/s download speeds.

Guest access

You have access to your cottage and all the outdoor spaces on our 40 acres including gardens and orchard. We ask that you do not enter the horse fences unless you ask us first AND you are comfortable being around large animals. Please do not enter the chicken fence without one of us so we can show you how to properly close and latch all the gates--chickens who escape quickly die from coyotes and weasels etc. You do not have access to our private buildings like the machine shed and shop.

Interaction with guests

We will show you the cottage and give you a key. If we're not super busy and it looks like you might want a tour, we're delighted to show you the place and answer any questions you might have. We live in the main "big house" which is a completely separate building.

Absolutely no smoking anywhere. That means anywhere on the property, indoors or outdoors.

No pets of any kind allowed in your cabin or on the property.

Always leave a gate the way you found it: if it's open, leave it open and if it's closed, leave it closed. Animals that escape or are cut off from their water supply are in danger. Ask us before entering any fences. Do not visit any animals that you are not comfortable with. Never walk/stand behind a horse (or llama). Do not enter any of our other buildings.

Please be nice and don't wreck anything.

Our experience: two big friendly dogs greeted us as we drove in. Claude is super sociable and showed us around. We were given use of the "Moose Cabin," nearest to the main house, which we appreciated. The cabin is charmingly decorated according to a theme (ex: moose paintings everywhere) but is a bit rustic, which may be expected, being in a forest. (Case in point, we weren't surprised to find two small spiders in the bathroom; I didn't mind but my girlfriend has a slight phobia.) Amenities included a small kitchen with cookware, hot showers (uses well water, so has that mineralized smell), even a coin-operated washer. Outside are outhouses in case of a power outage, but we did not experience that. We visited during the off season (Fall), so it was too wet and chilly for the smaller animals, but the larger ones came close enough to pet. Our bed was firm and warm with low profile pillows and extra blankets available (wish I'd brought my own pillow from home for maximum comfort). We didn't ask for much but got the impression our host would have been perfectly accommodating if we had special requests. Overall we weren't finicky and felt it was a pleasing, positive experience from a great host.

Response from Claude:
Thanks Christian for the heads up regarding spider webs. I did go in there after and removed all those that I could find. Personally we love spiders, and many of them live with us in our main house. They don't do any damage and are part of our farm animals, just like the birds and the bees.

If you're looking for a luxury establishment, stay elsewhere. If you're looking for an interesting rural British Columbia experience complete with farm animals and quirky interesting hosts, then this is for you. Clean, quiet, well stocked accommodations with rustic rural character. We used Moose Cabin as our staging area for day trips to My Robson Provincial Park and Jasper Provincial Park. Valemount and was also a charming little town with a nice IGA Market, a helpful visitors center and even a great little craft brewery!

Friendly host and beautiful views over the valley. Lots of old farm and homestead artifacts lying around make for an interesting stay. Cabin is basic but clean.

We arrived around 6pm and Claude gave us a tour of their property-- full of humor and interesting facts. The property has fantastic views of the Caribou Mountains that face west. Sunset is especially gorgeous. My boyfriend and I cooked dinner and had any/every cooking utensil available for our meal. This location was the cleanest property we stayed at during our 10 day / 4800KM drive through Canada. BUT the best part (aside from Claude and his wife) were the animals. So friendly and curious. Great for kids. 1000% recommend.

My wife and I are retired teachers and have lived in Valemount for the last 27 years and we absolutely love it here. Teepee Meadows is our home and we have poured all of our energy into it--it's where we love to be. We started hosting guests in our cottages over 10 years ago and it has been a constant source of enjoyment for us. We have met some fascinating people from all over the world and have had the opportunity to share our little piece heaven.
