The space
This place is a perfect pied-à-terre. As a former "ruralized" Parisian, I use it to reconnect with the asphalt.
The neighborhood is a small gem of Saint Ouen: next to Paris, you are in a peaceful, almost provincial neighborhood, from which you can radiate in the capital.
The building overlooks Place Debain and despite the cosmopolitanism, you are more in France than in Paris. Don't stop at the common areas of the building, dilapidated, but on the right track to be renovated. Stroll around the square to discover old small working-class houses transformed into paradise. These are mostly the old homes of the "puciers manouches", some of whose descendants resemble each other some evenings in the square for improvised musical performances. Unforgettable special moments.
You really have all the essential shops downstairs. At the corner, the restaurant "Les boulistes" offers you to have your meal while watching the boules players, and the small Indian grocery store near the Bar-tabac is open almost 24/24.
A short 5-minute walk and you are in the bustling life of the flea market (weekend only). 5 more minutes and you can have a drink at the Recyclerie, a trendy bistro overlooking "La coulée verte", an old railway line. And if a 30-minute walk doesn't scare you, you'll be at the foot of the Sacré-Coeur.
For the less athletic: bus 85 (rue des rosiers stop) drops you off in the center of Paris.
The 2 least enviable bikes, aesthetically speaking, are available in the inner courtyard. Perfect for a window-shopping trip.
In summary: you have a modest home, in a modest neighborhood, but both the home and the neighborhood are welcoming, functional and friendly.
Good luck with your search, Céline.

Neighbourhood highlights

You will be in a family neighborhood, unpretentious, popular, both colorful and French. You can play a round of boules by eating a couscous in the little square at the bottom of the building. And a 10-minute walk away, you're in the 18th Parisian.
