Where you’ll be

Gloversville, New York, United States

Main Street is lined with historic buildings, including the Kasson Opera House, which hosted the most famous performers of its day, including actress Sarah Bernhardt and musician John Phillip Sousa. Once the center of glove-making in the United States, Gloversville produced 90% of all gloves sold in the country between 1890 and 1950. Fine gloves are still made in Gloversville today by Daniel Storto, who has created gloves for Meryl Streep, Whoopi Goldberg and Cher, among others. Stately homes in Gloversville include the Queen Anne style Gustav Levor House with its picturesque corner tower, built in 1892.

Nestled at the foot of the Adirondack Forest Preserve, Gloversville lies just 10 miles south of the Caroga Lake entry to the Shaker Mountain Wild Forest, the southernmost expanse of the Preserve. Scenic Fulton County is known as "the land of 44 lakes," with abundant opportunities for boating, fishing, hiking, skiing, ice-skating and more. Gloversville is just a 35-minute drive west from Albany, New York's capital city.
