My work: Certified Organic Farmer
Speaks English
Hi! My name is Margaret and I run my family's certified organic farm; Mount Briscoe in County Offaly just over an hour from Dublin, it is a beautiful Georgian Irish country house.
The present house, built in the 1750’s has been lovingly renovated whilst preserving its architectural features. This handsome residence is situated in its own grounds, substantially set back from the road along a beech lined avenue.
Mount Briscoe’s is about handmade, homemade, artful and unique. Come, stay & experience warm hospitality, crackling fires, farm life and extensive outbuildings, all giving rise to a unique Irish experience.
Your host Margaret is actively engaged in farming, breeds & shows native Irish Moiled cattle plus Irish Draught horses and has a delightful Jack Russel ‘Max’. If you are lucky you will see our resident red squirrels, barn owl, pine marten and we are awash with Irish hares (protected).
Margaret loves crafting whether seasonal wild wreaths, willow sculptures, foraging for wild foods or tending her bees. She returned home after a career in the Arts.
Margaret is passionate about organic farming, preserving the built heritage at Mount Briscoe, the envirnoment & nature. Woodcraft is my new thing! As I now produce custom homemade live edge cutting boards, servers, platters and kitchen accessories.
