This quality short-stay accommodation was constructed in 2004-5 for Jay's ailing mother, who spent her last few years in our home. We tried to duplicate in the unit all that we could of her home near Atlanta, where she had raised her family and had lived for over fifty years. She seemed quite happy in this extension of our main home, but she died in 2007, and the place has been mostly empty since then. We desire to make use of the space and let others enjoy the woodland setting she enjoyed.

Gran's House is in the country but close to town. We live at the junction of two historic Indian trails, the Uchee and the Chicken Path, whose origins are lost in time, but are still marked today by a line of live oak trees planted here by early settlers along these routes. The first white settlement west of the Oconee River existed in this exact area in 1805-7, and our magnificent nearby trees date to about that time. Court was held during those years in what was then known as Sumpterville, an entity that is enumerated by a nearby brass historical marker. Because of the need for river transportation, the municipality gradually relocated to what is today downtown Dublin, on the banks of the Oconee River.

I and my husband are retired, and what started out as renting cabins for vacations gradually led to purchase of our two favorites and signing up to rent them to guests. It has been marred by many frustrations, but nevertheless we enjoy it and have had only rare guests who abuse the facilities in some way. We love to give an excellent experience to all who rent our cabins, and we get many good reviews. Our deepest appreciation to all our guests over the years.
