Frances and Steve have a beautiful garden room that they take great pride in. They have added a lot of nice touches so guests feel welcome and cared for. It's a very good value and a very warm and nice place to stay. I especially liked sleeping at night with the windows open, listening to all the night critters and nature sounds. Very lovely.

Response from Frances:
There are eight windows open to the trade breezes and a fan . Hawaii is hot and humid during the day July through September . This couple were nice but most guests come to see the island and are out all day and most of the evening whereas this couple stayed in the room only going out between 11:OO am and returning 2:00 or 3:00 pm each day and stayed in most of the rest of the time and evenings which is unusual, Garden chairs and our tropical garden were offered so guests could choose to sit outside. I teach in the schools and we are all hot this time of the year.

We had a wonderful welcoming from Frances and Steve. Very informational and warm. The room is an entirely separate apartment with independent entry. VERY clean and neat, well organized for having a terrific time since pretty much all details are well thought to the comfort of the guests. The location is great if you want to be close to the Volcanoes National Park or Kapala to see lava flowing or go up to the north east side of the island. On top of that , you have a basic breakfast of coffee , tea & fresh fruits, plus snorkels and some stuff to go to the beach and enjoy as well. All in all, it was a great experience staying in the Garden Room and would stay there again if returning to Hawaii Big Island. Once again, THANKS FRANCES & STEVE !!!

Frances and her husband have a very clean, spacious room with own bathroom and own entrance in the outskirts of Hilo (about 15 minute drive, one needs a car to live here). The unit was very nice and comfortable. Frances provides drinking water, coffee and some fruit to get started. It is peaceful to stay here.

Frances and Steve are wonderful people. They are friendly, helpful and very down-to-earth. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days with them. Frances in particular, has been extremely helpful in giving us directions to the many wonderful places around the area. She also generously shared her garden fruits with us which we enjoyed very much. The Garden Room, I must say, is spacious and clean. There is no smell or whatsoever. The bed and sheets are clean and inviting which is very crucial to us since we needed good nights rest before travelling. The Room is well-kept and well-furnished with microwave oven, fridge and coffee maker machine which we used especially in the mornings before we set-off. We would definitely return to this Garden Room should we visit Big Island again in future. If you have not found a place to stay in the East side of the Big Island, look no further. This is the one.
