1. Before we checked in, the host was very easy to communicate, accommodating and responded promptly. However, we messaged (Airbnb) her some questions the first afternoon we checked in, she responded the next morning. The same thing happened twice. The second time was the day bef…

Response from Cassandra:
I have been hosting on Airbnb for over 10 years and have never received such a response as yours nor such a deplorable rating. As I am a Superhost, I will address each of your issues with factual information. From the beginning, I suggested to you that this listing may not suit your group, especially since you requested BOTH early check-in and late check out. You were advised that due to other guests checking in/out that it would not be possible - yet you went ahead with the reservation. Regarding the house: Yes, it is a historic Victorian landmark in San Diego and yes it is loaded with antiques. Haunted? (Website hidden by Airbnb) is 150 years old - but none of my guests have encountered any unwanted hauntings?1? Regarding this floor's listing: It is very clear in both pictures and details of how the space is configured with regards to beds and rooms. Additionally, there are TWO sinks for guests on this floor - the bigger one being 15" in diameter which is standard bathroom vanity size. Regarding communication, I sent you detailed instructions on check-in and instructed YOU to contact me once you were settled. After I did not hear from you, I sent YOU another note asking if everything was ok and your response was that you indeed had checked in and "The place is really nice!" Much later that same night you asked if there was WiFi - which was curious since there is a detailed sheet in the main hall right next to the coffee maker with WiFi info. Nonetheless, I responded first thing the next morning. Your comment on the shower mat is curious as well - as my cleaners indicated that the bathroom floor was so soaked with water that it seemed that water from the shower was allowed to run on the floor without the shower door fully closed. Your group left the bathroom in quite a mess. The shower mat itself was so drenched that it had to be tossed. It was your group that rendered the mat 'gross'. Lastly, you wanted to check in at 12 noon on day of arrival and check out at 10PM on night of departure. Both requests were not possible, and both unreasonable! You then asked if you could 'store' your luggage in the house. Again, as I had incoming guests I let you know this was not possible either. I see you are relatively new to Airbnb and I can only imagine that your long negative narrative response was largely due to the inability for your group to check in early and check out late. I suggest in the future you try a hotel as that may be more suitable to your expectations.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Although we do not stock fresh milk...Sorry you missed the creamer - it is located in the cabinet above the refrigerator :-) Regarding the WiFi - the router is located directly above the floor you were staying on, so perhaps it was your carrier - as prior guests have not had any issue. Hope to see you back!

The house was exactly what we were looking for, and comfortably slept our group of 9. Cassandra was very responsive for any questions we had during our stay. We would stay here again if we were in the area.

The place is very nice and Cassandra is very welcoming. It is hard to beat the location and it suited our needs just fine, which was pretty much a few beds to sleep for a larger number of people. It is an older building, with amazing decor, which gives it charm and a unique exp…

Formerly from Ohio, I migrated to California after medical school, grew roots, and haven't looked back since. (although I still miss real tomatoes, sweet corn, and Cedar Point) My two "adult" children and I try to find time to travel together and stay in private homes when on va…
