The space
Spacious Riverside Retreat in the Heart of the Peak District. River Cottage is a stunning and homely property offering eight beautifully designed bedrooms and seven bathrooms, ideal for family gatherings or groups of friends.
Set on the edge of Ashford-in-the-Water, one of the prettiest villages in the Peak District, it’s the perfect base for walking, cycling or simply relaxing. An easy walk into the village, the famous Monsal Trail is close by, and the market town of Bakewell is just a five-minute drive or a 2 mile walk along the river
Living Spaces
You enter through the central kitchen, where a large range cooker with six gas hobs and an additional oven make cooking for a crowd a pleasure. A small seating nook is perfect for early risers with a coffee.
To the right are two of the ground-floor bedrooms.
Bedroom 1 is light and airy, with an en-suite cleverly hidden behind wardrobe-style doors. Bedroom 2 – a quirky split-level space with a raised platform bed (mind the low ceiling) and its own en-suite.
To the left, the lounge welcomes you with deep wood tones and cosy furnishings, leading down a step to the dining area with a long table for up to 20 guests. Just off this space is Bedroom 3, a compact cosy bunk room (full-size bunks suitable for adults) with a nearby WC and sink.
Upstairs are five further bedrooms, all individually styled. Bedrooms 4, 6, 7 and 8 each have their own en-suite, while Bedroom 5 uses the family bathroom opposite. All rooms except Bedrooms 2 and 3 can be arranged as either twin or double beds - just let us know your preference before arrival.
Outdoor Space
The landscaped garden is planted with seasonal colour and arranged over a few gentle levels with stone steps. A riverside patio for al fresco dining, and there’s a BBQ (please bring your own charcoal and lighting equipment). A secure fence runs along the river boundary for peace of mind.
Parking
There is private parking for four cars on the driveway, plus space for around five more vehicles in designated pull-ins on the road. There is a 7kw EV charger.
