Quoin cottage is a lovely flint cottage , with a wonderful peaceful walled garden filled with flowers and blossom in spring and summer . It is perfectly placed in the heart of Castle Acre, within the cobbled walls of the village , and just inside Bailey Gate. From the windows upstairs , you can see the castle towering beyond the garden walls.

The space
Castle Acre must be one of the most fascinating and compelling villages in Norfolk , and Quoin cottage is in the heart of it. Quoin Cottage is an ancient, and delightfully cosy building, in the historic centre of Castle Acre.. The cottage is completely available , solely for you . This includes Private use of the beautiful flint walled garden , and the amenieties within the cottage......the television, wifi etc etc.
There are little guides , which I will leave out, about the history of Castle Acre, the Castle, and wonderful priory all within easy walking distance... The cottage is a 2 minute meander to the 11C Norman castle, which you can see peering above the trees from the upstairs windows . In winter it’s so cosy to light the fire in the comfortable sitting room.
There are three bedrooms, each with a different and equally beautiful view out onto the village and countryside.. two rooms have lovely double beds, and the third bedroom has a bunk bed.... this includes two beds , which are perfect for kids, but equally perfect for adults !
The bathroom had a big high sided bath, with a shower above, so you can choose. Plenty of lovely hot water, and heating .
No need to worry about parking , there is free parking two minutes drive from the cottage on Stocks Green in front of the Ostrich pub. However, you are welcome to unload your car directly in front of the cottage when you arrive .
The garden has a magical Peaceful quality, surrounded as it is by ancient walls is totally private, and will be completely there for you to enjoy, without anyone else using it. The garage is attached to the house , ( not used to store a car, but a great place to keep your bikes, as Norfolk, being flat is fabulous cycling country! There are so many wonderful places nearby , from glorious nature to walk ... beaches , National trust properties, and so much more !
Castle acre is a really warm and friendly village , and I am sure you will feel very welcome , and at home !

Castle Acre, England, United Kingdom

Castle acre is a beautiful historic village . Within a short walk from Quoin cottage, past allotments, and through the medieval churchyard you will find the stunning ruins of the Abbey , you could either continue your walk down past the abbey to the ford through which the river mumbles and twists through banks of reeds . Play poo sticks from the bridge, continue on to the lovely village of south acre, or West Acre, where you could visit the tiny pub , West Acre theatre , or the West Acre garden centre .You may wish to stop at the Abbey and take a historical tour filled with fascinating information .or, just a few steps from Quoin cottage, and through the gate you could wander round the 11 centuary Norman castle. From here , join the nar valley walk , ot indeed numerous walks from Castle Acre.
For a good pub meal , and great ambiance, I can reccomend the ostrich pub on Stocks Green , where a welcome fire roars in winter and you may find a band, or poetry evening in full swing.
Castle acre has a great Fish and chip shop , next to the Spar, where you will find some basic essentials. For more in depth shopping , there is a waitrose, or Tescos and petrol station in Swaffam , a ten minute drive from Castle Acre...Swaffham also has a good Saturday market , where you could get fresh crab, local samfire , and many other delicious things . You will also find a good butchers, healthfood store with refills, and a well renound restauraunt called Strathams , where the food is delicious .
There are many national trust houses, beautiful beaches, wonderful walks, and so much more within short drive from Castle Acre.
