Inviting Studio Loft Space with Private Bathroom in residential upper level of Historic 1907 Brick Feed Mill Building with Canoe, Kayak & Bike shop below.

On the 400/Elroy Sparta Bike Trail and Baraboo River with Sandstone Bluffs in Village of Wonewoc.

Approx. 30 min. from WI Dells in a peaceful village outside the tourist trap. On Route 33 with great outdoors in our back yard! Near Lake Redstone, Dutch Hollow Lake, Devil's Lake, Mirror Lake, Castle Rock, and other rivers. Stay & Play!

The space

Stay in a historic brick feed mill building with wooden grain chutes, big timber beams, old freight elevator with beautiful pulley system, and right on the 400 state bike trail only blocks from the Baraboo river with sandstone bluffs. Located in a small downtown with groceries, gifts, antiques, restaurants, laundry facility and more just a few paces away.

Private Studio Loft with a private cedar-lined bathroom with spa shower. There's a queen bed and meditation area up on a loft/bunk area (with low ceiling) above the bathroom and 2nd queen bed nook adjacent to the bathroom. Enjoy the sofa/futon for relaxing, reading, eating, watching movies on the tv (we have movies to use or bluebox nearby, sorry, no TV subscription so we all play outside more), or it serves as a third double-sleeper bed to accommodate 6 people. We have an air mattress for the floor if you have a group of 7+ but there will be no walking room at night. Its a cozy space with a wood stove and stone wall and maximizes the use of the area, but hope you visit to enjoy our great surrounding outdoor playground.

The upper level living area is a constant work in progress as well is this studio loft guest room. The room is in lovely working order, and progress on finishes and more amenities will continue each month and each year. We are very happy to open the unique space to area visitors in the warmer seasons and may have it available for winter use after this fall.

Interaction with guests

As much as desired. Please clearly communicate if you need sanctuary away from people or if you would enjoy some additional conversation and immersion in a day at our shop, etc.
Will always give an introduction to our place, the village, and surrounding area. We are here when you need us, love to meet and get to know people, and will leave you to enjoy the room, building, village, outdoor playground, and nearby towns.
We also run the canoe/kayak/bike shop.
We are available most hours, run some errands and do other work. The room is private with a private bath and immediately adjacent to an in-progress common kitchen. Guests have access to small fully-functioning commercial kitchen in lower level at all times, including hours open to the public.

Other things to note

Old Talg's Mill Building is a continued work in progress that has come a long way and will continue to be improved with finishes, art, and fun added. Pictures show some unique features, but we leave some nice suprises for our guests to explore.

We have an awesome workout area in our adjacent living quarters that we are happy to share without accepting liability for your use of our equipment. When booking our space and intending to make use of our equipment you release us from this liability. We ask you respect the equipment, clean after use, and do not go beyond your physical means, but have fun and stay healthy!

A days notice is needed if you intend to use the hot tub. We will need to know about what time you would like to use it, as to conserve energy, we keep it at a lower setting when not in use. Please help us keep it clean. We will enjoy our hot tub also at various times and can try to allow private use for our guests with advance notice. It is on the back deck adjacent to the trail.

There is our operating business running below, and though we have insulated all and sound-proofed (with homosote, etc) the walls in the room as much as possible, there may be sounds from the lower level or from outside of the window transferred. We apologize that we can't fully control this if it occurs, but the access to the downtown, our shop, and the bike trail and nature out back we feel is worth it!!

**Please respect our place and especially the business below.
**If you enjoy the lower level space during our business hours, which we expect as there is a nice kitchen, tables, chairs, deck, etc...shop customers may approach you, please simply direct them to us.
**Please watch your step, as the building is over a century old and has a few small steps-up or down.
**Please be careful on the loft ladder. We ask that the queen loft bed is utilized by physically able children or adults. Please use the easily accessible queen bed in the nook adjacent to the bathroom if you have any issues with mobility or climbing. We made the nook bed the most comfortable. The ladder is difficult compared to stairs, but it serves just like a bunk bed ladder/tree house feeling and allows maximum use of the space so the room can serve bigger families and groups.
**Please leave shoes off once in the loft room (they can be worn inside the rest of the building, but the floor in the room is unique and we would like to protect it as much as possible) We have left a shoe tray outside the room for your use.
**Please do not hesitate to ask questions or needs.
** Please put in an advance request to use the hot tub so we can turn the temp up hours in advance and have it ready for you.
**Please rinse or clean up any dishes you use in either the lower level or upstairs kitchen. Dishes can be brought into the room for use. There are plenty of tables inside and out also for your dining use!
**Please recycle and minimize waste. There is a recycle bin outside the room and more in our lower level.
**Please ENJOY YOUR STAY!!
Thank you very much!!

One of the more eclectic stays we've had, in a historic grain mill! What a hoot. I wish my bathroom was as cool as what Brandi and her husband have created here. Great beds, great burgers/beer at adjoining bar. Lots of outdoor activities available. Brandi really looked out for us.

The space is as described, a rustic sort of tiny house in a unique setting. Brandi is accommodating and friendly. The bed is comfortable and the shower is nice.

Very groovy place to stay, especially if you are planning a biking trip, you can hop on the path right at their back door. If you enjoy repourposing of old buildings, you will love their place! The guest room was very comfortable and well designed with a great shower for after a long ride. It's a great location, in a quiet little town, close enough to other paths and attractions.

Brandi User ProfileBrandi is a superhost.

My husband and I love to travel. We are outdoor enthusiasts with a love for kayaking, hiking, climbing, and outdoor adventures. We like to experience new things and I enjoy art and architecture as well.

We own a canoe/kayak & bike rental business and I also work in architecture while he works in a machine shop overnight.

We look forward to many adventures and meeting new people!
