In the heart of Isla Vista, walking distance to UCSB, the beach, restaurants, grocery stores, etc.
I live with my housemate, Nick. We're both UCSB grad students who travel regularly, so when one of our rooms is available we open it to airbnb guests. We truly enjoy hosting and meeting new people through airbnb. We know the area well and look forward to helping you get the most out of your visit!
The space
Our home has two large bedrooms, one of which is periodically available to airbnb guests, and one shared bathroom. We also have a living room, kitchen, dining nook, backyard, and garage.
Nick (my housemate) and I are both graduate students in the Earth Science Department at UCSB. One of us will be home during your stay, but you'll have the privacy of your own room. We all know the area well, and can give you all sorts of great recommendations, especially when it comes to enjoying the outdoors!
Our home is among the oldest in Isla Vista, with attendant wear and tear, but we do our best to keep the place clean, organized, and comfortable.
Guest access
Our entire home is open to you. Feel free to use our kitchen, cookware, fridge space, etc. Have a meal or a drink in the living room or backyard. Make yourself at home! There's even space for one car in our driveway.
Other things to note
VERY IMPORTANT: Isla Vista is predominantly an undergraduate community. YOU SHOULDN'T BOOK THIS LISTING UNLESS YOU'RE WILLING TO STAY IN A NEIGHBORHOOD DOMINATED BY COLLEGE STUDENTS. In particular, the weekends can get noisy. My honest assessment is that it's generally less noisy than I expected, but every once in awhile I do put on earplugs before bed. So if you're sensitive to noise, this might not be an ideal option. Also, it's important to be very careful driving, since there are often lots of students on bikes and skateboards.

Location
Goleta, California, United States
• For us, and many of our guests, the best thing about our location is that we're less than 1/2 mile (~500 meters) from UCSB campus! But this also means we're about ~10 miles from downtown Santa Barbara.
• We're just a few steps from a large variety of restaurants, convenience stores, grocery stores, several parks, and beautiful beaches with seaside cliffs and excellent walking/running/biking trails. We're also ~1 mile away from two well-known surf spots—campus point and coal oil point.
• 2 miles to highway 101
• ~3 miles to the Santa Barbara Airport
• ~10 miles to downtown Santa Barbara.

I currently am a PhD student in the Earth Sciences at UC Santa Barbara. Like many geologists, I love rocks and I also love to climb them. I absolutely love the outdoors and am an avid rock climber and backpacker. I love traveling, meeting new people, and I especially enjoy learning about and immersing myself in new cultures!
