Welcome to a cosy cabin in a peaceful environment where you can sit back, relax and enjoy a beautiful sunset with an ocean view. The surrounding area offers exciting trails through Äggdal, a nature reserve where you also can take a tour on the back of Icelandic horses. A top rated golf course hosting a lunch restaurant, a theatre, a cafe, a spa and a luxury restaurant (seasonal, booking may be required) are all located in Tofta, just a 20 minute walk from the cabin across the meadows.

The space
The cabin was originally built 1959 and is recognised by the peculiar shape of its roof. Original drawings show something larger, but apparently the money ran out during construction and the sloping roof/wall was conceived. My wife and I have owned the place since 2008 and in 2016 we decided to renovate the main building, from the ground up. Finished in early 2019, it's practically a whole new house.

The main cabin has 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a large open space with a kitchen, a sofa, a large dinner table and a fireplace. Outside a large terrace facing south-west offers a large decking area with a dinner table allowing you to enjoy the sun all day and host large cookouts.

Our new guest cabin and decking (built 2021) offers easy access to an additional bedroom and lounge with an unforgettable sunset over the ocean. Relax in a room with 180 degrees panoramic view of the ocean and surrounding landscape.

Focus on family and friends, play games and spend lots of time outside exploring the nature and surrounding mountain. If you don't feel like walking, there are a few bikes available in the garage. Chopped wood for the fireplace is always available, even though the cabin is just as warm without a fire. Kids will find plenty of toys to play with and books to read before bedtime.

Welcome to Sjöhåla!

Guest access
Both cabins are accessible, but an extra fee is charged for parties > 3 guests, as more linnen need to be washed.

Other things to note
Please keep children under adult supervision at all times when playing outside. There are a few steep mountain sides not far from the cabin so don't let toddlers explore by themselves. The new decking has received railings in appropriate places, but ropes will only remind kids of risks, not prevent them entirely.

Please note: Gas is not available or included for the gas grill. You must purchase your own coal and lighter fluid at the gas station.

Where you’ll be

Kungälv, Västra Götalands län, Sweden

Sjöhåla is situated just 35 minutes north of Gothenburg and is very low key place to stay. Most of the neighbours are older and enjoy the peace and quiet, but are very curious and friendly to visitors! Parents can relax as there is almost no traffic and the speed limit is very low.

Nature here is a mix of mountains, meadows, rocks, forrest, a golf course and the ocean, with lots of animals on the other side of the forrest trail (on route to Tofta). There is also a harbour in the bay north of Myggstaviken, Hjelms Bryggor.

We highly recommend taking a hike or run through the nature reserve Äggdal. The coastal line is beautiful and you'll meet plenty of animals up close. Grab a map from the cabin and you'll find all the treasures along the way.

If you feel like visiting Marstrand, take the inner road via Tjuvkil, it’s a sweet ride if you’re driving a convertible or motorcycle with countless twists and turns. This is also the same road you would take if traveling to Tofta by car.
