Casa Caisua is a Susegad Village house located at Anjuna and Nestled right in the middle of the village, it is set in a private 20,000-square-feet Orchard and is a few minutes walk to Vagator beach. The structure, standing tall amidst lush greenery and under the bright sun, is entrenched with multiple tales that have been revived to resonate in today’s time. Casa Caisua, about a century old house was carefully restored in a sensitive manner, keeping the charm of the original structure intact.

The space
The house comprises a large, loft-style bedroom suite, with a main bedroom, a loft and a large bathroom that leads to an open-to-sky shower. It also has a front verandah and a rear pavilion overlooking the orchard. An out house alongside the villa houses a private fully equipped kitchen and a caretaker’s quarter. This Villa is ideal for 2-3 persons and offers a series of semi open spaces that engage the landscape apart from the indoor living spaces.

The villa itself is designed to evoke a sense of understated luxury through the tastefully curated use of natural materials, eclectic mix of furniture and elements of décor and is set in the midst of dense tropical landscape. The orchard at the rear of the property has several mature fruit trees and a large vegetable patch.

Comprising a king-size, four-poster bed, sofa and a mini bar, the main bedroom at Casa Caisua is a classic urban habitat. In keeping with the exterior of the villa, which has bright, bold colours on doors and pillars, the bedroom is dotted with vibrant accessories in the form of cushions, wall art as well as drapes. Calm colours of blue are interspersed with blazing orange and reds, thereby adding drama in this minimalist setup.

The Loft
The mezzanine space at Casa Caisua serves as a retreat within a retreat, perfect for reading, lounging or even sleeping. Against the plastered walls, this nook, while remaining conspicuous in its subtlety, gives a stunning view of the entire interior as well as outdoorsa remarkable display of how spaces can find hidden connections and dissolve boundaries, one staircase at a time.

The Bathroom
Staying true to the organic forms of the structure, the bathroom merges the indoors with the outdoors. This part of the semi-open bathing area extends to an open-air shower that has walls in cold-grey concrete, and cobbled flooring. Right above, the palm leaves extend across the clear blue skies, giving a visual depth to the whole architectural function of a spacious bathroom.

The Verandah
Perhaps what rounds off Casa Caisua is the way the boundaries between the indoors and outdoors blur with each step. Its design landscape revels in a visual experience that is grand and tactile at the same time. The original verandah of the house, in fact, can be accessed from the bedroom as well as the bathroom. The rear pavilion then doubles up as the main living space, opening up to all three sides of the lush gardens it is surrounded with.
Even as globally, design and architecture struggle against the clamour of superficial ideas, Casa Caisua stands out with its authenticity, one where multiple worlds reside and find their peace. And right there lies your own little susegad, in this revived piece of Goa.

The Villa is very near to the beach and also close to all lovely restaurants and bars around in the locality. But you can’t hear the noise of the streets in the Villa.
