Welcome to the Garden Suite!

Our private basement suite has a comfy queen bed, large couch, TV/Netflix, bathroom with heated floors, a cozy fireplace for winters, a garden patio, and garage. Located in a residential neighborhood with easy access to many amenities, we’re 1.5 blocks off Minnehaha Creek and within 1.5 miles to grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and more. We're on the bus line to downtown and it's a quick drive from even more restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and museums.

The space
This basement suite walks out into our backyard and has a giant window overlooking our gardens. This is a fully private space and you’ll have your own private entrance with a self-check in lockbox as well as access to the garage. There’s a cozy gas fireplace for seasonal use (available November to March), a huge bathroom with a walk-in shower and heated floors, beautiful gardens in the spring and summer, your own patio area for morning coffee or wine in the evenings, and a very comfy queen bed (with a heated blanket for cold nights).

The space can easily accommodate two people in the queen, and there is the option to have a third person sleep on the Ikea couch (not a pull out, but 93" long).

Basic amenities provided:

* Shampoo
* Conditioner
* Lotion
* Coffee (french press) and selection of tea
* Electric kettle
* Safe Tap Water
* Fridge
* Microwave
* Toaster
* Sound machine
* Roku/Netflix
* Wifi

Please note that we do not have a kitchen or kitchen sink and ask that you do not wash dishes in the bathroom. Please think of our setup as similar to a hotel room with slightly more amenities. :)

Early check-in and late check-out may be available with prior permission.

Guest access
Guests have access to the lower level suite with private bathroom, living area, coffee bar, and patio. No access to main level of home or main deck.

Other things to note
We strongly support Airbnb’s Nondiscrimination Policy.

For the safety of our cleaners and guests we have enhanced our regular cleaning protocol and implemented a minimum of a three-day vacancy buffer. When you check in, at least 72 hours will have passed since previous check-out, and 24 hours since cleaning.

* We have a fridge and microwave but are really set up like a hotel room—we do not have a set up for cooking or washing dishes.
* We have a TV and Netflix, but no cable or regular TV channels
* There are a few steps from the driveway and a brick pathway up to the apartment. The bathroom has a small 2 inch ramp and a 28-inch entrance. The apartment is otherwise all one level with no steps.
* We have cats. They are not allowed in the suite but we cannot guarantee that it will be allergen free.
* The suite is not soundproofed from the rest of the house. We are fairly quiet, but please note that some noise will pass through. We’ll do our best to be respectful and ask that you do the same. :)
* If you are making a booking for 2 people, the identities of both guests must be confirmed through the AirBnB platform and both profiles must be attached to the booking at the time of reservation.

Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States

We love our little neighborhood in South Minneapolis! It's a residential neighborhood with restaurants, grocery stores, and coffee shops within 1.5 miles. We are a block and a half from Minnehaha Creek, which is beautiful and has biking/walking/running trails running along it. We’re sandwiched between Lake Nokomis, Lake Harriet, Lake Hiawatha and Diamond Lake if you’re looking for even more time on the water. It's an easy drive to Uptown where there are a lot of restaurant and things to do. It’s also easy to hop on 35W by car or busline to get downtown. We’re within 10-15 minutes driving distance of museums, shopping, Mall of America, and other great places! If you are looking for recommendations for anything just ask!

Hi! We're Anissa and Carter. We live in Minneapolis, MN but I (Anissa) have also lived in St. Louis, MO for graduate school and South Korea (where I taught English for a year) and Carter has lived in Costa Rica for a brief stint. We love traveling and are avid users of AirBnB--we love the coziness, comfort, and uniqueness of staying in real homes instead of hotels. We recently opened up our own home (a basement suite) for renters. At home, we spend time with our cats, reading, playing video games, and hiking/walking when it's nice out. Anissa also spends a fair amount of time doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is very bad at it. When traveling, we seek out active outdoor experiences like camping, hiking, kayaking. The last few years we've done backpacking trips in Glacier, Mount Hood Oregon, and Banff. We also love city-sightseeing and seeing plays, visiting museums, and exploring. Anissa's vegan and we love to find great places to eat!
