The space
It is said that location is everything. “The Loft” is a few minutes walk from unique shops, great coffee, tasty treats, and the amazing Lineham House Galleries. It is also a few minutes drive to wide selection of larger chain stores including Costco, Walmart, and Safeway. Less than an hour to the Calgary International Airport, an hour and a half to the Canmore/ Banff area and the glorious Rocky Mountains, and only 15 minutes to the south end of Calgary, “The Artist’s Loft” in Okotoks is a centrally located home away from home for your next southern Alberta adventure.

For visitors who are visual artists, you will be invited to use Birdsong Studio below as much as you like. It is a 400 square foot creative space with lots of light and several spare easels. If you’re an aspiring artist and want to experience the wonder of painting, ask about arranging a workshop during your stay or some one-on-one painting time with one of our resident artists.

For those seeking rest, relaxation and self-care we have yoga, meditation and healing services available onsite. Pre-book your private craniosacral therapy or dynamic energy healing session before you arrive and know that you will be well cared for.

Don’t be surprised to walk down the stairs and be greeted by a furry friend. It is in the heart of downtown, but serene nature walks are only a few steps away, a perfect balance between town and country.

“The Artists Loft” on Historic Elma Street in Downtown Okotoks is a short stroll from unique shops, great coffee, tasty treats, and the fantastic Lineham House Galleries. It is only a few minutes drive to a wide selection of chain stores: Costco, Michaels, Winners, Walmart, Starbucks, and Safeway.

We are a centrally located home away from home for your next southern Alberta adventure. We are only 15 minutes to the south end of Calgary, 45 minutes to the Calgary International Airport (YYC), and an hour and a half to the glorious Rocky Mountains and the Canmore/ Banff area. Close enough for day trips, our big beautiful backyard, Kananaskis country has dozens of great hiking and cross country ski trails and includes the Kananaskis Village/Nakista Downhill Ski complex off of HWY 40.

Our property has it all, access to local businesses and restaurants, a quiet mature neighbourhood with lots of greenery in the summer and the privacy you crave in a retreat. Our property backs onto a large hill with several walking paths that get you to the top. It is a perfect place to look at the town and watch the sunset behind the mountains or stretch your legs and enjoy some local wildlife and birds. We are also only two blocks from the Sheep River, which is bordered on each side by paved walking trails - a veritable oasis if there ever was one.

**NOTE: As a retreat space, there is no TV in the Loft. We do, however, provide WIFI and trust guests to bring a laptop or tablet instead. There is a printer hooked up to the wifi, which you are welcome to use.

If you would like to pre-book an art discovery workshop, studio time, an outdoor adventure, please let us know in advance.

If you are a larger group, please keep in mind that we also offer full rental of our main house (sleeps 13/ 7 beds) or just basement on its own (sleeps 5/ 3 beds). **Please send us a message if you would like to inquire about either one of these options**
