I am a busy professional ecologist working mainly locally but sometimes further afield. I have two grown up children and a young grandson. They live away but are frequent visitors here. My main hobbies are walking in the countryside particularly the local fells, travelling the world, windsurfing, playing concertina in a ceilidh band and sometimes orchestra, singing in a rock choir, and more recently horse riding. I also enjoy art and crafts, especially textile and multimedia art, both making and visiting exhibitions. I enjoy adventure travel and expeditions worldwide, ever since sailing across the Indian Ocean in a brigantine with Operation Drake back in the 1970s. Recent adventures in New Zealand, Vietnam and Cambodia, Costa Rica, Mongolia and Chile. Also enjoy camping and hostelling in the UK and long distance walking. Family is very important to me and I love spending leisure time with all the family together. I have had dogs since I was 21 but I have not replaced my last one who died at 18 years old . Not yet retired but working towards it so I can travel and spend more time on my many hobbies.
