This listing is an absolute gem. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The location is central - walking distance from amazing cafes on long street and big open air markets. While the neighborhood is a bit seedy at night, it's easy to uber anywhere from this location. Alan and …

Alan’s flat is beautifully decorated, and located in a very central part of town. It’s quite compact (certainly big enough for a couple but I wouldn’t recommend adding extra people), but the space is cleverly thought out and it is very well equipped with all the essentials, plus…

Response from Alan:
Hi Alice Thanks for your detailed feedback. I thought I might respond to some of your points though: Re the ladder: yes; it's a bit steep but this is detailed before you make the booking. Many guests find it 'part of the charm' though. Re the lights: The lights in the bedroom can be controlled from both the bedroom and from the switch downstairs. Maybe you simply didn't manage somehow but this feature does in fact work. Re storage: there is ample storages space downstairs; all the cupboard and drawer space is available for guests as well as the walk-in shelving towards the bathroom where there is storage space for suitcases too. Some guests prefer to live out of their suitcases and not unpack so in these cases floorspace will be need to be sacrificed if the 3m long counter is not used for this! Re the neighbourhood: I do list this as an 'inner city' listing; it's even described in the title of the listing! And this is what our inner city looks like: a crazy mix of Somalians, Zimbabweans, Nigerians, Indians etc etc all making a living in and on the streets these days. Personally I feel safer the more people are in a street at night or day and Longmarket St definitely counts as a busy street. The guest who arrived just after you was a single, female traveller and she ended up extending to a 2 week stay so I think feeling unsafe differs from person to person. Regards, Alan

Amazing loft with a nice terrace facing Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak. Grant brought us fresh fruit and breakfast. Very nice experience overall!

I'm one of those 'tech guys': a bit of a designer, a bit of a coder, jack-of-all-trades, master of none. I've lived practically everywhere in this crazy little town over the past 20 years: from Newlands, Claremont, Observatory, Vredehoek, Gardens, Camps Bay, Three Anchor Bay …
