Welcome to the A.G. Groff House (my great, great grandfather's home!!). Hear the fog horns, smell the salt air, & walk to EVERYTHING from this classic 1840s cottage in the historic Point section of Newport, just 2 blocks to the Bay. Step back in time as you step through the white picket fence past a jumble of roses onto the old fashioned covered front porch. THIS is the very essence of Newport - a small cottage by the sea with a sunny kitchen, 2 large bedrms, & 2 full baths.
Parking for 2 cars!

Location

Newport, Rhode Island, United States

What makes the historic Point section of Newport so desirable is its close proximity to the water and downtown Newport, yet it remains a little oasis of tranquility, a secret neighborhood beyond the fray of the summer downtown traffic and tourists. Narrow streets, brick sidewalks, gas lamps, secret gardens, and amazing architecture spanning 350 years make you truly feel like you have stepped back in time! Grab a fishing pole and head to the Van Zandt Pier to see if the stripers are running, climb the Blue Rocks, hunt for sea glass at low tide, pack a picnic hamper and dine under an ancient shade tree in Battery Park, head to Belle's in the shipyard for breakfast with the sailors, or go for a sail yourself from the marina on Goat Island.

I am a local real estate agent, specializing in coastal Rhode Island properties, with a particular love of vintage homes and all things old! Before moving to Wakefield, Rhode Island, I lived on the West Coast (San Fran Bay Area) for a number of years, where I bought & sold antiques. I am also a licensed yoga instructor and currently teach several classes a week in town.
