1 bedroom, 1 sitting room, full private bath and balcony to yourself on 2nd story of our home in the pretty village of Sharon WI, ringed by farm country. 30 min from Lake Geneva, 1 hr to Milwaukee or Madison, 5 min to the train to take you to Chicago. In Sharon enjoy a walk to the Coffee Cup Cafe, Genoa Pizza, ice cream shop or park. Or bike rural roads. Gas station with groceries in town.

The space
The bedroom sleeps one, or two if you're a couple (full-sized bed). In the bedroom, enjoy a comfy armchair, Alexa Echo Dot 3rd generation voice-controlled speaker, a water hotpot and French press for tea and coffee, and dishware to use with the microwave and mini fridge in the sitting room. In the sitting room, enjoy a cushy armchair for reading and large beanbag and lower-bunk futon couch for watching tv or hanging out. The small smart tv includes cable, Netflix and other streaming channels. One child or willing adult could sleep in the top bunk bed (single-sized with a ladder to climb up). The bathroom has a tub with jets and a showerhead with an extra-long hose for easy bathing. The bathroom door locks. Wifi, USB ports and plugs throughout. We never book more than one party at a time, so you will be on your own on the second story. Feel free to sit out on the upstairs porch with your coffee or pick a game to play from the hallway closet.

Note there is another bedroom upstairs that will not be in use during your stay.

Note we have a cat. She is shy and you won't see much of her. Guest room doors are kept shut when not in use to keep her and her fur out.

Note that guests do not have access to first floor including no kitchen or laundry facilities. Dish soap and towels are provided in the upstairs guest bathroom for minor dish-washing in the sink up there.

You may laze on our front porch, or go around back to take a walk by the garden or jump on the trampoline if you're feeling bubbly. We have a few comfy bikes for a toodle around town or on country roads - just ask and we'll get them out for you.

Where you’ll be

Sharon, Wisconsin, United States

Even though Sharon is small, it has a number of events including Model A Day, Fourth of July parade and fireworks, and Victorian Christmas with horse-drawn carriages. You'll meet all the locals at the ice cream shoppe all summer. The pizza place is delish and even delivers. Get coffee or farm breakfast at the cafe.

Our favorite local destination is Williams Bay, an easy 15 minute drive east, where you can swim and fish at a nice little beach on Lake Geneva (but not in the city of Lake Geneva), walk the trails through Kishwauketoe natural area, eat fresh & organic at Green Grocer with a glass of wine or a pizza, and finish with ice cream at Dip In The Bay or Frosty Moose. You could also go upscale with a spa treatment at Clear Waters Salon and Day Spa and a view of the lake at Cafe Calamari. 15 minutes beyond Williams Bay is the town of Lake Geneva with all it has to offer.

Delavan is also only 15 minutes away where we enjoy dinner or a spa treatment at Lake Lawn Resort. Lake Lawn holds public events - our favorite is their kite festival on frozen Delavan Lake in February - and they offer public mini golf, small boat rentals, and ice skating. Delavan has other good restaurants and shopping.

In the general area there are also opportunities for golf, biking, wineries, and music at The Belfry, George Williams College, Walworth County Fair, and Alpine Valley.

And if you are into farmer's markets, our favorite one is every Saturday morning in Beloit. Downtown Beloit is hopping these days with new restaurants, hang-outs and parks along the Rock River.

We like the birds and the breeze and the quiet in our small village of Sharon in southcentral Wisconsin right on the Illinois border. I’m originally from Milwaukee, while Bobby hales from rural Rudolph. We’ve been in Sharon 17 years. Bobby and his 3 grown children are proud graduates of the Wisconsin School for the Deaf. Our youngest attends a nearby Montessori school. Colleen is a full-time freelance sign language interpreter and Bobby is a teacher’s aide at WSD. We share a love for family, the outdoors, gardening and traveling - most especially camping and the National Parks. We have enjoyed updating our 1919 home over the years and hope you will have a comfy stay, whether quick or visiting the area. As hosts we will stay out of your hair, but we welcome any questions or conversations. - The Pearl.
