The Cottage by the Lake is a cozy, secret get-away on the scenic banks of the Croton Watershed. About an hour from NYC, it’s on the property of an 1850 farmhouse & has a fully equipped kitchen & bath, cathedral ceiling, working fireplace & cozy sleeping loft. The patio has a fire pit and gas bbq.

The space
For the 2020 Holiday Season The Cottage by the Lake is including the house-made specialty breakfast on Thanksgiving (November 26), Christmas Day (December 25) and New Years Day (January 1, 2021). A full holiday dinner will also be available for guests booking those dates.

The Cottage by the Lake features a cozy and comfortable sleeping loft for two. The main floor sofa opens into a full-size bed for a 3rd /4th guest. The private patio offers tranquil views of the lake, fire pit and gas bbq grill, the perfect place to unwind with your favorite beverage. The house-made specialty breakfast is included in the price of each Friday & Saturday night's stay and available for an additional cost Sunday thru Thursday -- $16 per day for each adult, $10/day for each child.

The scenic beauty of the lakeside views are breathtaking in every season. Enjoy a relaxing stroll through our vegetable garden. Amble or jog along Maple Road, which hugs the lake for over 2 miles. On chilly days, warm yourself by the functioning wood-burning stove. There is firewood available. Skewers and the makings of S’mores are provided. The patio offers comfortable Adirondack chairs and a gas fueled bbq grill.

The Cottage by the Lake welcomes dogs. There is a large fenced-in area around for your friendly canine to run. Scenic Maple Road on which the Cottage is situated is a favorite of dog walkers, joggers and bicycle enthusiasts. Please advise us in advance if you plan to bring your canine.

Original watercolor artwork by the owner is on display throughout the Cottage and available for purchase as well as high quality framed reproductions.

Bicycles and helmets are available to rent. The Cottage is just a short distance from the entrance to Putnam County’s extensive bike trails. The mineral springs swimming pool is available dependent on season, weather and house rules, which allow guest usage of the pool from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM daily. For safety, sanitary reasons and integrity of the vinyl liner, pets are not allowed in the pool or pool area.

Orestes and I have been enjoying life on the the lake at our Brewster home for just over three years. Prior to the big move to the country, we lived in NYC. We are both healthcare professionals and in our spare time enjoy gardening, and cooking or baking with our home grown produce with our grandchildren. Orestes takes pride in his watercolor paintings while John feels more at home with photography.
