The space
Urbana is a unique facility in the old town of Budva, this is a house erected on the site of the former villa in Roman times, as evidenced by archaeological excavations exposed on the square in front of the house. The house was damaged in an earthquake in 1979, and during the repairs, there was a great discovery! From dust were discovered parts of the 2000 years old building, columns and capitals, which together with the house will become one of the most important monuments in Budva. Pijaceta villa Urbana is one of the most recognized archaeological sites in Budva. Distinctive square with the remains of Roman architecture and palm tree is a favorite place visited daily by hundreds of tourists, photographed countless times, and is in all the brochures related to Budva.
And now you have the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful monument and staying in a house that hides part of the Roman wealth and architectural expression. We offer you the chance to enjoy with wine on a beautiful terrace overlooking the square with antique elements. Stay in the heart of the old town will contribute to better understanding of historical and cultural heritage of Budva, lifestyle, and enjoy the many cultural events on which the old city is known. House position is fantastic. In the immediate vicinity there are two beaches, archaeological museum superb seafood restaurants, pizza restaurants, night clubs and exclusive boutiques. the building has an area of 90 square meters (2 floors) designed for a comfortable stay for 6 people. On the ground floor there is a living room with a view of the square where there are 2 beds, large dining room, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. Upstairs are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, second bedroom (2 individual beds) leads to a beautiful terrace that overlooks the square, and a second bathroom. The house has a separate entrance, so privacy is guaranteed, kitchen provides the possibility of preparing food, spacious dining room is ideal for lunches and dinners, also on the terrace you can socialize with your friends read or enjoy the sun during the day.
The house interior is decorated as small museum, with antique furniture, art peace’s, and details that are characteristic to our town and region itself. Some details are unique and you can find them only in our house. The base theme is obviously Mediterranean, but we liked to keep everything simple, there is no unnecessary space taking furniture, everything is simple, easy to use and of course in inevitable connection to the house past and traditional way of living in old town.
Some parts of furniture are over a 100 years in this house, they are our personal inheritance, today these are restored and put on display so you can enjoy them and get a better picture of our way of living in the past times.
Our aim is to make you feel like you are belonging to our town and environment!

Where you’ll be

Budva, Old Town, Montenegro, Europe, Montenegro

The Old Town of Budva is situated on a rocky peninsula, on the southern end of Budva field. Archaeological evidence suggests that Illyrian settlement was formed on the site of the Old Town before Greek colonization of the Adriatic. While the site was permanently settled since Roman era, most of existing city walls and buildings were erected during the Venetian rule.
The entire town is encircled with defensive stone walls. The fortifications of Budva are typical of the Medieval walled cities of the Adriatic, complete with towers, embrasures, fortified city gates and a citadel. Originally, there where gates on all of the four sides of the walled city. However, sea-facing gates were closed up over the years. The main city gate is Porta di Terra Ferma, the grand entry to the city from the west. It is also the beginning of the city's main thoroughfare, Njegoševa street. There are also four more gates on the north wall, facing Budva marina (Porta Pizana, Porta Pizana 1 and 2, and Porta Pizanella), and one small gate facing southwestern beach of Ričardova glava.

The layout of the town is roughly orthogonal, although many streets deviate from the grid, resulting in somewhat irregular pattern, with many piazzas connected with narrow streets. Today, entire city within the walls is pedestrian-only. The town citadel is situated on the southern tip of the city. Originally known as Castle of St Mary, fortification was continually rebuilt and expanded through Middle Ages, reaching its final form during the Austro-Hungarian rule. The sea-facing 160m long ramparts of the citadel, complete with eastern and western towers, are intricately connected to the rest of the city walls. Austrian stone barracks form the most prominent structure within the castle, separating the citadel from the rest of the walled city. Ruins of the Santa Maria de Castello church, after which the entire complex was originally named, are located within the citadel. A large public square is located to the north of the citadel, containing all of the churches of the old town - St. Ivan church (17th century), Santa Maria in Punta (840 AD), and The Holy Trinity church (1804).

The Old Town suffered extensive damage in 1979 earthquake; repair and reconstruction took eight years (until 1987), but traces of the damage are now hardly noticeable. Today, it is a prime visitor attraction of Budva, packed with tourists during the summer months. Its narrow cobbled streets are lined with restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops.
