Solitude Cottage is one of 3 unique A-Frame cottages situated within a private nature reserve with spectacular views of the Langeberg Mountains. About an hour and a half from Cape Town, near the Nuy valley, Amandalia farm is home to Saggy Stone Brewery, it delivers as it's name suggests - peace and quiet. Embrace the quiet of the reserve, relaxing in the hottub and watching game drinking at the private waterhole

The space
During the course of 2018, a 22km game fence was completed so that the cottages are now part of the game reserve (hence the reason for no pets allowed). Abundant bird life, some blue wildebeest, black and copper springbok are amongst the wildlife that will be your fellow residents during your stay.
An open plan kitchen and living area extends onto a private wooden deck where you can sit with a cup of coffee and relax with beautiful mountain views which stretch for miles while listening to the sounds of busy birds flitting from bush to bush. Each cottage sleeps a maximum of 6 adults comfortably, with all the modern conveniences such as solar power, private braai and hot water

Advertised Rate is for 2 guests, thereafter additional guests are charged at R250 per person per night to a max of 6 guests in total)

A wood fired hot tub on the deck of the cottage is a perfect place to watch the stars and listen to the sounds of nature. Solitude cottage is neatly tucked away behind a hill away from the other 2 cottages

Small luxuries of tea/coffee/sugar/olive oil and balsamic vinegar are provided.

There is NO 240V power - the cottages only have 12V power with no plug points. There are 2 USB charging spots, and you can charge laptops and other devices at the restaurant, or pack in a power bank :)

2 bags of wood are supplied to get the hot tub going, as well as firelighters, braai grid and tongs. It is recommended to bring wood for the braai. There is wood available to be bought at the pub

Crisp white bedding and towels add a touch of luxury within the rustic farm landscape.

We do not take bookings for Sunday evenings so that weekend guests are able to enjoy the stay till late on a Sunday. Unfortunately, no day visitors allowed

Saggy Stone Pub is located on the farm which is open Wednesday to Sunday from 11am till 4pm - beer tasting, pub lunches and pizzas make it a not-to-be-missed part of your stay

Guest access
Rooiberg Breederiver Conservancy MTB trail which starts at the pub

Wine and Olive tastings in the nearby Robertson and Worcester Wine Routes

River Boat Cruises at Kolgans and Viljoensdrift

Other things to note
The roads are totally accessible with normal vehicles but not with low profile vehicles- they are dusty and uneven (typical farm roads) and can be quite muddy if it rains. Leave the Ferrari at home for this farm getaway!

I am a friendly, energetic person who loves meeting new people. My husband, Adrian, and I run Saggy Stone Brewery and our family fruit farm in the Robertson valley. We love the outdoors and the solitude of Namibia when on holiday

In light of the Corona virus pandemic situation we have adopted the following protocols
* staff practice strict hygiene controls, sanitizing as they start work and throughout the day
* all bedding, towels and cloths are removed and washed after each guest
* all surfaces are treated with sanitizer between guests
* a spray bottle of sanitiser is provided in each cottage (we ask that guests do not remove it from the cottage)
* the cottages are far apart from each other and it is self check in so there is no contact with staff
* while we have implemented these procedures we encourage all guests to practice the same sanitation and hygiene to protect all future guests and staff
