This is an impressive home, designed by Proudfoot and Bird in 1918 for a prominent businessman, but we try not to take ourselves too seriously. Described by campaign staffers as "Harry Potteresque", we are centrally located to everything in Des Moines. Guests visiting Des Moines University (DMU) and Wesley Acres usually walk the <1 mile down beautiful Grand Ave. Drake University or downtown = 7 minutes. Medical Centers, or the largest skatepark in the country = 10 minutes. Airport = 20 minutes.

The space
Tranquil, warm space in a large private room has a comfortable queen velvet bed, table with chairs, a McKenzie-Childs tuffet in front of Cinderella's mirror, and large closet for storage. Plenty of windows to let in lots of light, and velvet curtains to block it out if you want to sleep in. This room shares the spa bathroom.

Where you’ll be

Des Moines, Iowa, United States

This is the Arts Area. The Art Center (designed by Eliel Saarinen, I. M. Pei and Richard Meier) is 2 blocks away in Greenwood Park. Salisbury House (one of America's Castles) is less than a mile. La Mie Bakery and The Cheese Shop are 6 blocks away in The Roosevelt Shops, near the Des Moines Playhouse. Ingersoll Ave. is a designated Cultural and Entertainment District with groceries, galleries, coffee, restaurants, or pizza until 3 a.m. at Big Tomato. Chocolaterie Stam is a European treasure trove where you can even get a Caffe Mocha, and Bauder's old school Soda Fountain is a true blast from the past. The bells from St. Augustin's ring hourly from 8 am to 9 pm. Art and music festivals, farmers market, the largest skate park in the country, and anything downtown is only a short drive.
