Escape city life and stay at this off-grid cabin, situated on 37 acres in the Texas Hill Country.

*Note* Air Conditioning is limited to day-time use only. (Click “Show More” for details to see if that’s a fit for you). We built our cabin by hand and the front and roof-top decks offer miles of majestic views of the Blanco River Valley, sunrises and sunsets, and local wildlife.

Stay here for a uniquely spectacular off-grid experience.

The space
This cabin is not your typical rental. Think of it as slightly bougie but down to earth glamping for adventurous souls (although, not suitable for children under 12). During your stay you’ll get to see how we collect rainwater, how to use a simple composting toilet system, and how to be off the power grid and use a wood burning stove during cooler months! You’ll also have access to a private walking trail that leads to a tree hundreds of years old; it’s truly magical.
There’s no wi-fi or internet out here, but there is a strong cell signal with most providers. Stay here to disconnect from work, social media, power lines, and wi-fi signals; although the local library has WIFI if you find yourself in need.

Not only will you be staying off-grid but you’ll also be staying in a sustainably built home constructed and designed with minimal waste. The kitchen includes a small fridge, large sink, a 2-burner gas stovetop, a dining table + 2 chairs, and amenities like French Press coffee and teas. It's stocked with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, salt, pepper, cooking oil, and some other spices. We also have a charcoal grill outside.
We have a backyard fire pit for you to use, unless we close it during a burn-ban. You must bring your own wood for the fire pit. We do provide wood for the woodstove inside the cabin so you can stay warm on cold nights.

IMPORTANT:
Love to run the Air Conditioner at night? You cannot do that here. Wondering why?
Since we are not connected to the electric grid, we get 100% of our electricity from the sun!
The sun powers our solar panels and batteries and is what powers the cute little fridge, the fans you’ll use to cool off, and small-use items you want to plug in like your phone charger or your computer (although we don’t have wi-fi so you can truly unplug). The sun also powers an Air Conditioning unit that you can use during the day to cool off!
You can run the solar-powered AC unit from around 11am-6ish pm (it turns off during heavy cloud cover but turns back on when sun returns). Since you cannot run the AC at night, we provide fans and recommend opening the (screened) windows at night to keep it cool.

During your stay

We are generally at our home, which is about 200 feet from the cabin, and we keep to ourselves but are available if you need us or just want to meet us. We do have a privacy fence in the backyard.
