A pet friendly brick and flint cottage in the heart of Happisburgh on the Norfolk coast. The Gig House is perfect for summer breaks or winter escapes alike and is ideally located just 10 minutes from a glorious sandy beach.

The space
Because of Lockdown 3.0 from 26/12 for probably the next month we can only accept bookings that fulfil the following criteria: You unable to return to your main residence; You need accommodation while moving house; You need accommodation to attend a funeral; You are isolating yourselves from others as required by law; You are an elite athlete, the coach of an elite athlete, or (in the case of an elite athlete who is a child), the parent of an elite athlete, and needs accommodation for the purposes of training or competition, or to provide accommodation for any person who needs accommodation for the purposes of their work.

The Gig House sleeps:
2 adults and a baby/toddler.

We welcome pets - up to 2 large or medium dogs or 3 small dogs, 2 cats and any pet in a cage - and charge £25 per dog or cat per visit.

We live across the courtyard and, hopefully, will be there to welcome you and to deal with any questions or requests at any time during your stay.

It is located in one of Norfolk's most picturesque coastal villages. The village itself is now famous for the oldest evidence of human activity outside of Africa with footprints discovered on the beach to be over 900 thousand years old.

The cosy local pub, within 50 yards of the cottage, echoes the local connection with Sherlock Holmes author Arthur Conan Doyle who visited many times and wrote one of the detective mysteries here.

There is also a small shop and post office in the village.

In fact the local villagers will proudly boast of the number of other illustratrious visitors who have been drawn to this unique place from Robinson Cruso author Daniel Defoe, cricketer W.C. Grace, sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, poet John Betjeman, writer PD James and even the Queen Mother once arriving by helocopter to visit a cousin who lived in the village.

The village is a must for those who enjoy the English countryside and its beaches in all seasons.

Parking is in the courtyard or on the very quiet lane outside the house. Bus stop 20 m from Albion Cottage but with an infrequent country service.
Train station 7 miles away.

All week long bookings start on a Saturday and short breaks start on a Monday or Friday, except at Christmas. We do not accept short breaks (less than a week) at peak times (school holidays). Out of season we can be more flexible with length of stay and start day.

If you have a larger party this property can be booked in conjunction with Albion Cottage at a special rate (property also on Airbnb).
