Paraty, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

The Historic Center of Paraty goes back to the 1820's, when its streets already had their "pele foot" pavement.
The presence of the waters, with the invasion of the tides at the full moon, the coffee and sugarcane culture, the port and its pirates, and Freemasonry determined the layout of the Historical Center of Paraty.
All housing constructions were regulated by law, and could pay with fine or imprisonment, who disobeyed the determinations.
The Historic Center, considered by UNESCO as "the most harmonious colonial architectural complex" is National Heritage listed by IPHAN.
Its streets, protected by chains that prevent the passage of cars, still preserve the colonial charm, allied to a varied commerce and very intense cultural and artistic expressions.
