Our 200 sq ft casita is blocks from downtown Albuquerque and the Bosque Trail (perfect for runners and cyclists) and minutes from charming Old Town. Walking distance to all of downtown, including restaurants, breweries and the farmer's market, it's a cozy accommodation from which to explore the Duke City. Decorated in a modern style, this spot is ideal for road trippers, conference attendees, and urban adventurers.

Close to airport, convention center, UNM, interstates, and historic Route 66.

The space

The casita features a living room, full bath (including our famous vintage 70s avocado green bathtub!), bedroom with a queen-sized bed, and patio. It is about 200 sq ft, so larger than a studio, but still pretty small. There is a sofa bed, as well, but please be aware it is a twin. The casita entrance is in our backyard, which is shared with us.

• Fast wi-fi
• Keyless entry
• Queen-sized bed
• Portable air-conditioner and built-in heating unit (fans and space heaters also available for your comfort)
• Clean, modern Southwest decor
• Covered patio with wisteria and trumpet vines
• Pull-out couch with twin mattress
• TV with Roku and Netflix
• Mini fridge
• Microwave
• Coffee maker and electric tea kettle
• Local handcrafted and/or organic toiletries
• All cleaning products used in the casita are non-toxic and/or organic
• New Mexico guidebooks and magazines

This casita is great for solo travelers, a couple, or possibly a group of three adults (there is a twin pull-out couch). Please keep in mind that at 200 sq ft, it is a very snug fit for three adults, so it's probably best for groups who are not concerned about close quarters and privacy.

***It is not a good location for families with children, including those with infants. While we love children, our space is not set up to accommodate them*** Please do not book this location if you will be bringing children or if you're not dog-friendly—while no dogs are ever in the casita space, we do have two dachshunds that might occasionally be in the yard.

Downtown Albuquerque is a developing neighborhood undergoing revitalization. Please understand that our casita is located in an urban, downtown location. While we feel safe here, it might not be the best fit for every traveler.

We welcome long-term stays, including film industry employees, traveling nurses, or other people who might need a place to stay in Albuquerque for awhile.

Guest access

The casita's entrance is through a gate, accessed through a carport.

Parking is on the street and abundant. Please make sure to lock your car and remove any and all valuable belongings.

Feel free to chill on the patio attached to the casita, but we respectfully ask you leave the rest of the yard to us.

Interaction with guests

The casita is located just a few feet from our home, so you're likely to catch a glimpse of us or our two dogs. While we're happy to help you get the lay of the land and answer questions, we're also cool to let you have your privacy. Check in and check out do not require face-to-face interaction.

Approximately 48 hours before your stay, I will contact you via AirBnB messaging to give you check-in instructions. I'll also check in with you throughout your time in the casita to make sure everything is going well.

Other things to note

The casita is treated regularly with organic, non-toxic pest repellent. Still, this property is over 100 years old and is located in a historic neighborhood in the desert, an area with its own rules for insect life. Bugs are a part of life here in the southwest! *** While we make every to keep it spotless for guests, you may see the occasional bug. Please be aware of this and make sure you're ok with the possibility BEFORE booking.***

Our yard backs to an apartment building, so occasionally there is noise from car alarms, music, people, etc.

The place is great for a solo traveler or a couple. It's nicely decorated and is sparkling clean! I really appreciated the toiletries, especially toothpaste, since I had forgotten mine at home! The city itself is not very pedestrian-friendly. I did walk to the old town from the casita, but it would be better to do it with someone else, and definitely not after dark since there are no street light I t

Everything is as described. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a very comfortable stay at the Casita. Carrie and her husband were quick to help when a small situation came up. Would definitely stay again next time we visit ABQ.

I only stayed at Carrie’s casita for 1 night but it was exactly what we were looking for. Carrie and Randall were great hosts. Carrie was quick to answer any questions or concerns that we had. Their casita is super quaint and tidy and I would totally recommend!

Such a great little spot! The casita is adorable and has all the character and charm you would hope for in an Airbnb. This is a cozy space but my husband and I were very comfortable for 2 nights!

I'm a poet, freelance writer, and birth doula. Although I'm originally from Maryland, one of my great joys is sharing the amazing state of New Mexico with new people! I love cooking, hiking, old-time country music and my two dachshunds.
