Situated close to the beautiful North Norfolk coast, the Barn is a fantastic example of modern design sitting successfully within traditional buildings. Originally built in c.1700 and recently refurbished by architects Patrick and Claudia Lynch.
The design of the interior is modern, with the walls, windows and doors all painted white, while the upper bedroom is lined in birch plywood and is reached via a ‘Norfolk winder stair’. The living space is a spectacular double-height 'barn-like' room (we've added some new photos recently to try to show how grand this is).
If you enjoy your stay then you might like to know that the barn is currently for sale via The Modern House.
The Barn has two double bedrooms, both with double beds. The architects have sensitively converted the interior of the Barn, and aside from the bedrooms have created a beautiful, light-filled double-height space, which accommodates the kitchen, living and dining areas. There is an Aga for guests to use.
Externally, there is a long cottage garden with a planted border and a number of mature trees, which connects the two properties, and which can be viewed from the Barn. The properties are situated on a small road which soon turns into a dirt track, so the rural surroundings are peaceful and quiet.
The garden is shared between the Barn and the cottages at numbers 09 and 11. The whole area can be used at your leisure, in particular if the other two houses are not occupied.
There is furniture in the garden which is kept outside during the summer months. During the colder months it is kept in the little shed.
You are also welcome to use the marble table and chairs under the apple tree if nobody is staying at the cottage, but please do not attempt to move this table as it is very heavy and could break.
There is a circular barbecue for shared use between the barn and cottage. You can find it either inside the little shed or to the side of it.
There is car parking on site for two cars.
Interaction with guests
The owners occasionally stay at the adjacent cottage, but guests at the Barn would have privacy.
