We stayed at Maria and Luis's place for our last night in Portugal before flying out from Porto the following day. If you are looking for a totally peaceful and relaxing haven away from it all then this is the place for you. The accommodation is a self-contained cottage with living area and a basic kitchen downstairs and a bedroom upstairs. The cottage is one of several on the property but they are well spaced - giving the feeling of complete privacy. The grounds are very picturesque, with a 17th century mill down by the river at the bottom of the property and there is also a nice pool to enjoy. Maria runs a small restaurant on the property - we enjoyed a delicious dinner with Luis serving the food - and breakfast can also be provided too. We would have liked to stay longer here as there was plenty to explore in the area - a national park and ocean beaches are relatively close by. Highly recommend this place to prospective travellers ! Bear in mind you do need a car to access this property and see the local sights.

This place is truly amazing. Luis, Maria and family have a beautiful home and the accommodations are both authentic and charming. Set in unspoilt Portuguese countryside, they are well equipped and very comfortable. Fall asleep on a hammock under the stars! The pool, restaurant and gardens only add to what has been a genuine and fulfilling experience in this amazing place and country. Would very much recommend and can't wait to go back. P.s, let Maria cook for you... heaven! ;)

Great place to spend your vacation, Maria and her Luies (spelling??) are a great couple and I believe they I invented helpfulness. The house we stayed was lovely and the pool a delight. But be carefull, if you want to lose weight don't go there, because what Maria does in her kitchen is phenomenal.

This was a beautiful 17th century watermill on a bankside that we had a dip in every morning and could look out onto from the building. Lovely spacious space all in stone with double room and twin beds in the living space complete with patio so that we breakfasted each morning in the sunshine. Good size kitchen and bathroom with hot water, fridge and hob so that you can whip up whatever you fancy. Lovely pool on a higher level as this is part of a group of villas, mostly all existing renovated old traditional Portuguese buildings. Only con was probably location as a must for a car to access but something of a common issue for really being able to explore the area properly! Totally worth it though. Maria was a fantastic host, easily contactable and very welcoming, bringing us anything that we asked her for (such as an iron for a wedding shirt!) We had a fantastic time and really recommend this unique northern Portuguese spot along with its host, Maria.

This place is amazing beautiful and you can not see all on the pictures here. The area is very big and like a farm, typically old from Portugal. With 5 houses around of flowers, the river, a shared pool, trees, animals and a cosy little restaurant. You can have all you ever need there. Maria was so kindfull from the first moment on, cooked for us amazing good Pasta and you have to try her Crepe with Icecream. After you feel like in heaven:-)! The house is so nice, a old wooden one, with two floors, the bedroom upstairs with a small bad. Downstairs a beautiful living room, nice interiour with little kitchen! Outside you can sit on a big teracce and have breakfast with a view in the pure nature there. This place is really nice, a lot of good energy around and lovely dogs who stayed with Maria. So cute dogs:-)! I really recommended this place to stay! Thank you Maria for everything!!
