Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Originally stables/coach house, the cottage has been converted to cosy one-up-one-down self-catering accommodation. With double bed, shower, washing machine, fully equipped kitchen. 10 min walk from station, and even closer to the shops, cafes etc. There is normally space to park one car on the drive, but be aware that the entrance is a bit narrow. If you come in an electric car we can find a 13A plug for you to charge up.

The space
The cottage is around 200 years old and was originally the coach house/stables. The open plan lounge/kitchen/diner on the ground floor has a sofa, table and chairs, an electric oven/hob, microwave, kettle, fridge, toaster (plus starter kit of tea, coffee and sugar) and a well-stocked games box. Stairs up to open-plan bedroom with double bed and bathroom en-suite. Sleeps 2
THERE IS NO TV OR DVD PLAYER
Secure bicycle parking
CD /Bluetooth Player
Travel cot/child mattress available on request

Guest access
There is small garden, with seating.

Sorry there is no disabled access as the bathroom and main bedroom is upstairs.

Other things to note
Arrival and departure times by arrangement, we are fairly flexible depending on previous and subsequent bookings. Normal times would be depart by 11 am and arrive from 3 pm.

Price is for 2 people.

If you come by train or bike we can offer a discount.

Hand and shower towels, pillowcases, sheets, duvet covers, tea towels and bathmat are provided. If there are young children in the party please bring waterproof sheets. You are requested to bring your own beach towels, though if you ask us for some we can usually provide some extra towels for the beach.

There is a supermarket less than a minutes walk away, which is open from 7 a.m. til 11 p.m. Mon to Sat and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. It's like having your own personal food-store - and it's good to shop local.

Location

Machynlleth, Powys, United Kingdom

Set in the heart of rural mid-Wales, Machynlleth is a lovely historic market town with a population of about 2,000.
In the town (a 2 minute walk) there are: several cafes and pubs; a wholefood shop; a couple of supermarkets and lots of antique shops. Also a leisure centre (swimming pool, squash courts, bowls rink, fitness suite and sports hall) and an outdoor playground;. Notably, apart from the supermarkets, all the shops are ‘independently’ owned.

There is a fair bit of live music in town - in the pubs and at the Tabernacle. There are also a few drop-in activities to participate in e.g. Table Tennis and Board Games (both once a week) if you want to know more about these please ask us.

We have lived in and around Machynlleth since 1982 and love the area and the people. Having worked at the Centre for Alternative Technology for 30 years we are strong advocates of renewables, recycling, organic gardening etc. We have a large organic garden and grow as much veg as we can. We enjoy meeting people from different countries and cultures, and also like to travel using Airbnb when we can. We like playing board games and have started a board games club (which meets weekly) in one of the local pubs, and have built up quite a nice collection of interesting board games. John plays the trumpet in the Machynlleth Wind band and in a variety of bands.
