Great location

'Number 10' is a rustic, little-bit-retro, stand-alone private studio for 2. It adjoins the main house and enjoys ocean and garden views. A short FLIGHT OF STAIRS leads to a bedroom (1 queen) and area with fridge and microwave (BUT NOT a full kitchen!) and bathroom. There's also a deck for brekky or Happy Hour. Breakfast included.

The Blowhole is 200 metres away for evening penguin viewing, and sunrise/sunset photos. The beach, walking tracks, great restaurants and facilities close by too.

The space
'Number 10' is a modest studio and a rustic space - it has its idiocyncrasies and is not like a modern hotel room. The main cottage was built in the 1950s and 'Number 10' adjoins the cottage and is UPSTAIRS of the old garage (now a storage area). Despite its simplicity, it is conveniently located and in close proximity to the township and offers a great location for penguin viewing at the Blowhole - just a few minutes walk to the end of Douglas Street.

The Gulch (harbour) is very close where you can meander along part of the coast walk and then perhaps hop aboard the Glass Bottom Boat, or enjoy fish and chips overlooking Governor's island at either of the two popular fish and chip shops - the Lobster Shack, or at Coastal Seafoods at the Wharf.

No. 10 is also very close to beautiful local beaches. And there are views over the ocean where you might spot a Southern Right, a Humpback, or an Orca during different times of the year.

For a quiet bush walk there is a leafy bush track behind 'Number 10' which leads up to the Big Rock and down onto the main road. It is great for bird watching and good for orchid spotting in October/November.

Where you’ll be

Bicheno, Tasmania, Australia

Bicheno is a great place to stay as a base for your east coast adventures. It is only 40 minutes away from Freycinet National Park and less to the Douglas Apsley park. Picturesque with beautiful walks and beaches and national parks nearby, Bicheno is also a vibrant village with a choice of cafes, restaurants and specialist seafood eateries. There is a large IGA for your essentials and also a growing Sunday market.

We have penguins and abundant wildlife and, as well as the usual water activities such as swimmimg and surfing, you can enjoy a visit to East Coast Natureworld, the Glass Bottom Boat, and Devils in the Dark.

There is also the Bicheno Farm Shed for wine tasting and, only a short drive away, award winning wineries which offer tastings and a variety of food choices. Special music events happen on a regular basis and the Bicheno Food and Wine Festival in November is a must.
