An 8-min walk from the Lajpat Nagar metro, our B&B has a small kitchenette, a private entrance, an air purifier, air-con, fridge, microwave, TV & fast Wi-Fi. We prefer long-term guests who wish to stay with us for 1 months or more - i.e. we are accepting bookings of 1 months and over & are offering a 30% MONTHLY DISCOUNT until the current situation improves. Our room is a little smaller than it looks in the photos. Our market has great eateries! We organise airport pickups & are LGBTQI friendly.

The space
Do keep in mind that our house is an old construction, built over 60 years ago, which we endeavour to keep spotless! We have recently installed a top-quality Air Purifier in our guest room to help combat Delhi's air pollution. We are also particular about what drinking water we drink as well as serve to our guests and only serve R.O.-processed water (i.e. water processed by reverse osmosis that is extremely safe for drinking). We are conveniently close to our local Defence Colony market (just a 10-minute walk), which has restaurants, bars, pharmacies, phone shops where you can buy local SIM cards and Forex shops to exchange currency. The nearest metro station called LAJPAT NAGAR, is just an 8-min walk away. Our manager Raju is on hand to help you navigate the local area, help you get taxis or tuk-tuks, point you to a reliable Foreign exchange outlet and advise you on how to set yourself up with a local SIM card for your phone - everything you need to get you started on your India adventure!

Fondly called Dinga's Place and named after my grandfather M.J. Kirpalani who was called "Dinga" by all who knew and loved him), we're supremely central - a 15 minute drive from Lodhi Gardens, and 25-min away from the city-centre Connaught Place.

The room itself is on the 2nd floor (we do not have an elevator/ lift) and is 12 ft by 9 ft, so its not very large, but cosy, comfortably fitting 2 people. It is extremely private and fitted with all the mod-cons: heater/Aircon, TV & cable, Fridge, electric kettle with tea and coffee tray, and a shower with an attached geyser. We also have a built-in wall cupboard. And a little balcony overlooking a quiet tree-lined lane where you may see Julie, our friendly doggie mascot. Please Note: We do NOT have a full kitchen or space for guests to do their own cooking.

Guest access
At Dinga's Place, guests will have their own well appointed room - which has a separate entrance, bathroom and lovely little private balcony. Further, you have access to a back verandah which serves as a smoking area and is also equipped with a washing machine (whose usage is free) and a drying area for clothes.

During your stay
We are available every morning between 8am-10am - our policy is to provide guests with privacy and yet be on-hand for advice, sightseeing tips and general trouble-shooting. Before 8am and after 8pm - is private time for the family - but we are available for emergencies 24x7.

Other things to note
- We are LGBTQI friendly.

- COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST BETWEEN 8AM-10AM
Our breakfast is a do-it-yourself affair with fresh, simple fare such as muesli, yogurt & honey or cornflakes & milk, toast & jam, seasonal fruit, tea & coffee.

EARLY CHECK IN & LATE CHECK OUT
An Early Check-in (before 1pm on the 1st day of your booking) depends on whether we have guests staying the previous day. If we do not have guests staying the previous day, we will be very happy to accommodate your early check-in.

If you require a late checkout (after 10am), please write to us. If the room is free the following day (i.e. we have no other bookings), we will be happy to accommodate your late check out!

Neighbourhood highlights

Defence Colony is a quiet residential neighbourhood located right in the heart of town. It has several walking tracks and leafy parks for children to play. Our very own Defence Colony Market is known for its eateries, restaurants, cafes and pubs and is something of a local watering hole, popular with visitors and locals alike. Apart from eateries, it also offers convenience stores, fruit and vegetable stores, cell (mobile) service shops, pharmacists and Forex outlets. A reputed multi-speciality hospital (Moolchand Hospital) and its 24-hour pharmacy lie adjacent.

I am a wildlife conservationist by profession and a hobbyist writer. I graduated with a masters degree in film and television production, but eschewed a career in film and went on to work as a travel book editor for Dorling Kindersley’s Eyewitness Travel Guides. A lucky assignment with the wonderful organisation - Snow Leopard Conservancy India Trust in Ladakh - made me lose my heart to wildlife conservation. So I went back to university and got another degree in Environmental Management! I now write occasionally on conservation issues and travel and was a contributing author of the book, Conservation in a Crowded World (UNSW Press Sydney, 2012). I am an old friend and associate of the Snow Leopard Conservancy India Trust and am happiest when I'm in the bush, camera and floppy hat in tow.
