The Room:
You will enjoy your stay immensely if you appreciate a challenging creative design built in the tiny house concept. It is completely different from a traditional boxed in hotel room with no windows and only gadgets to compensate. You have a treetop level view of the Largest park of Kolkata.

There are two levels of the room with the Lower level having a writing table,storage space and the washroom & the upper level has the bed and the Sundeck and has windows with a unique 270 degree view . Enjoy faboulous views of the monsoon .
The decor of the room is a mixture of traditional handwoven materials from rural artisans and an open skies design with plenty of natural light and sun. There is a private sundeck f& also a mini library. There is lots of space in the adjacent terrace which is frequented by various birds and overlooks the largest park of Calcutta . Walk out of your room onto a green terrace & an unhindered expanse of greenery !

Stairs : We are on the 5th Floor and we do not have an elevator in the building like all buildings of the period . However a walk up the stairs will do a lot of good for your heart , other than the gorgeous views you can enjoy : )
Luggage:
Help can be provided for carrying up luggage for arrivals between 10 am to 6 pm . Or else, Luggage can be stored in a locker room downstairs for the night & carried upstairs the following day with outside help around 10 am .

All this 5 minutes from a Metro , close to Heritage spots, & 30 mins from the Airport & Railway Stations.

Location: Please look up Shyambazar on Wikipedia. The most attractive part of this listing is its unique location. This is the 'Real Kolkata' as many of our guests described it. Walk the alleyways all around us or take a walk to the Ganges for a Ferry ride or just enjoy the aritsan's village of Kumartuli- you can do it like a local from here.

Our Family has been in Kolkata for over a 150 years. We welcome guests to our home, if they share basic details about themselves . We cherish the opportunities of cultural exchange & the wonderful experience of meeting new people from across the world that Airbnb offers.
Indrani is an expert cook, taking forward, the techniques of traditional Bengali cooking learnt from her mother and mother in law. Her cooking skills have been highly appreciated by our guests from all across the world.She has her official f b cooking page called 'Indrani's cookbook'
Tathagata is a Chartered Accountant by profession, He takes pride in knowing every nitty gritty of the city & loves to help guests discover the city beneath the facade. Interior designing is his hobby along with feeding the wild birds that flock to the terrace.
