Witness the beauty of a lovely sun rising above the mountains as you laze in the Verandah with a cup of tea. Read a book, sitting on the bay window and dream. Take a deep breath, exhale and remember – you are here, away from everything that troubles you. You are present and in tune with the birds and the bees flying around.

The space
A unique experience in the remote village of Marayoor, Cob – Nature Living is a twin cottage that came about through the intertwining of aesthetic design with traditional materials. Echoing barefoot luxury every step of the way, Cob is romantic, intimate and modern. With this listing, you will have access to one half of the twin cottage

The verandah looks out to the east making it the perfect spot to witness the sunrise or a moonrise if you are lucky to be with us during a full moon. Bamboo decks situated outside the cottages are ideal for lazing in the sun or to perform Yoga during the day. The verandah opens to spacious interiors where even the cot is built in mud to help you experience the authentic touch and feel of Cob way of mud construction.

Serene and open to sky washroom often spots a bird or two flying above. Enjoy the feel of the sun on your skin as you take bath or even enjoy bathing as rain pelts around you. What more is needed to feel truly in nature?

Great attention has been given to the tiniest of details indulging you in a sense of wonder, helping you relax and feel closer to the beauty around you.

Guest access
Guests have access to the lawn space right outside the Cob Cottage. The dining and kitchen areas, as well as the garden and garden shed, BBQ and campfire area are shared by all guests. A short 5-minute walk from the property leads to a private viewpoint, offering stunning views of the land. It's a perfect spot to enjoy watching birds, deer, butterflies, and a variety of tiny creatures in all shapes and colors.

Parking is available inside the property.
Around the property, you can travel with your own private vehicles or make use of cycles available at the property. We can also arrange a cab / rikshaw for your travel needs.

Other things to note
Kindly note that we are located in a remote village of Munnar, called Marayoor, located 30 Kms away from Munnar town. Tea plantations are 10 Kms away. We are a forest bordered property. Kindly plan your stay with us accordingly.

The Mudhouse is a tranquil destination where one can unwind and be one with nature. Listen to the birds singing or at times, in the absolute stillness, the quiet breathing of mother nature. Kindly avoid visiting here if you tend to love loud music and are looking for a party place.

Being a sustainable property making use of mostly natural materials, maintenance activities are very much a part and parcel of the experience. If you're lucky, you'd get to witness the changing of thatch or mud polishing and get to converse with the artisans.

Food options are limited but delicious and homely. You can let us know any allergy / religious requirements beforehand.

Since we are very close to the forest, occasional insects and small harmless animals, pests etc are common. Our staff are always available to manage the same. Kindly do not hesitate to notify immediately if any being makes you uncomfortable. Please do understand they have as much right to live on our planet as we do.

Drones are not allowed inside the property. Kindly let us know beforehand if you have drones with you.

For pre wedding / post wedding shoots, kindly intimate in advance (before making the reservation). The host will brief you on availability as well as extra payment details.

Neighbourhood highlights

Visit us to have a slow vacation. Spend your days lazing, watching the mist hovering over the mountains. On a warm day, watch the birds roaming the skies and life springing up all around you.

A 10 minutes hike from the property through a forest trail will take you to a view point from where one can enjoy a 360 degree view of the agricultural valley of Marayoor. Explore the wilderness and even catch a glimpse of deers and bison grazing.

A 40 minutes hike from the property beside a canal will take you to a river hidden in the forest. Take your book or even have a picnic (without littering ofcourse). One can also take a dip in the crystal like water and fall in love with the peacefulness of it all.

In the evening, ride through the village on the cycles provided at the property. If you're late, you might even get a glimpse of a swarm (sparkle) of fireflies in the fields nearby.

For those wishing to just stay and laze at our property, we have a tiny collection of books and board games that you can peruse at your convenience.

Thoovanam waterfalls, a stunning cascade inside Chinnar wildlife sanctuary is just 20 minutes away from the property. Go on a drive to visit Anamudi Peak, Chinnar or the centuries old, Muniyara.
