This is one of the few places in the area with free parking.
Perched atop a quaint hill on the Sahayadris, the eco-friendly constructed cottage helps you stay rooted to Earth but still be close to Heaven.

Enjoy the stillness of early mornings with a steaming cup of chai or by quietly meditating from Adobe’s garden. Located at the lower end of the property, the humble cottage is spacious, homely and just the perfect cosy spot for you to gently escape from the world. Earthy and cool, the interiors are sure to make you feel at home

The space
Built as a vacation home for Pushpa’s family, Adobe – Nature Living is a breath of fresh air for those visiting from the city. Cozy and comforting, the cottage spots a Verandah, living, bedroom and washroom.

Constructed using sustainable and locally sourced materials, Adobe awakens nostalgia for a life long gone by. Bespoke furnishing complements the humble mud walls and thatch roof. The warli paintings on the walls are beautifully drawn enhancing the beauty of the space through their storytelling.

The floor is maintained periodically using cow dung and mud, keeping the interiors cool and hygienic. The Verandah opens into a lawn and a gazebo that overlook the Sahayadri.

Lilies, heliconia, roses and hibiscus swing softly in tune with the breeze. The view and the setting are enough to awaken the long lost poet or artist inside you.

Safe for toddlers to roam around and accessible to senior citizens, the cottage is just the perfect fit for everyone who wishes to enjoy The Mudhouse in peace.

Guest access
Guests have access to the lawn space right outside the Adobe Cottage. The dining and kitchen areas, as well as the garden and garden shed, BBQ and campfire area are shared by all guests. A short 5-minute walk from the property leads to a private viewpoint, offering stunning views of the land. It's a perfect spot to enjoy watching birds, deer, butterflies, and a variety of tiny creatures in all shapes and colors.

Parking is available inside the property.
Around the property, you can travel with your own private vehicles or make use of cycles available at the property. We can also arrange a cab / rikshaw for your travel needs.

Other things to note
Kindly note that we are located in a remote village of Munnar, called Marayoor, located 30 Kms away from Munnar town. Tea plantations are 10 Kms away. We are a forest bordered property. Kindly plan your stay with us accordingly.

The Mudhouse is a tranquil destination where one can unwind and be one with nature. Listen to the birds singing or at times, in the absolute stillness, the quiet breathing of mother nature. Kindly avoid visiting here if you tend to love loud music and are looking for a party place.

Being a sustainable property making use of mostly natural materials, maintenance activities are very much a part and parcel of the experience. If you're lucky, you'd get to witness the changing of thatch or mud polishing and get to converse with the artisans.

Neighbourhood highlights

Visit us to have a slow vacation. Spend your days lazing, watching the mist hovering over the mountains. On a warm day, watch the birds roaming the skies and life springing up all around you.

A 10 minutes hike from the property through a forest trail will take you to a view point from where one can enjoy a 360 degree view of the agricultural valley of Marayoor. Explore the wilderness and even catch a glimpse of deers and bison grazing.

A 40 minutes hike from the property beside a canal will take you to a river hidden in the forest. Take your book or even have a picnic (without littering ofcourse). One can also take a dip in the crystal like water and fall in love with the peacefulness of it all.

In the evening, ride through the village on the cycles provided at the property. If you're late, you might even get a glimpse of a swarm (sparkle) of fireflies in the fields nearby.

For those wishing to just stay and laze at our property, we have a tiny collection of books and board games that you can peruse at your convenience.

Thoovanam waterfalls, a stunning cascade inside Chinnar wildlife sanctuary is just 20 minutes away from the property. Go on a drive to visit Anamudi Peak, Chinnar or the centuries old, Muniyara.
