BEWARE of Crystal: I have to say, I believe Crystal has learned how to BEAT the Airbnb system and SCAMMED me out of one nights stay in our little cottage. Let me explain... Crystal booked 3 nights. After staying one night, she emailed me the next day at 2pm, check out time is 11am) and said... "Hi Joshua, thanks so much for your hospitality but I can’t stay at the apartment anymore. The vent was blowing some black dust all over the apartment so i was coughing, and I wiped off a thick layer of dust from the stove and counters. The apartment has very poor insulation and was too cold even with the heaters blasting in both rooms. The toilet was disgusting and had pee stains all over it, and I had to clean it myself. I barely got any sleep from the cold and dust, and I didn’t appreciate having to clean the toilet myself. The tub also had a sticker that wouldn’t come off so I couldn’t take a bath. I called airbnb to get a refund back for the remaining nights but just wanted to give you a heads up." So I replied to her... "I’m very sorry about this... I take this very seriously and will do everything in my power to correct these issues. What can I do to help you?" She then replied... "It’s OK — I have hosted before so I understand. I left the key under the mat. I have already checked out so I would appreciate if you can coordinate with airbnb to refund the remaining nights." I then called Airbnb and told them I would like to refund Crystal for the 2 nights she did not stay, even though she booked them. Airbnb told me that was nice of me and they will refund the money ,but that she should have allowed me an opportunity to rectify the problem instead of just checking out (after the check out time) and not noticing me of any issues. I told Airbnb it was ok and that I'm new to this and am learning. I thought everything was settled... as I gave her, her money back JUST AS SHE HAS ASKED FOR!! NOPE, it was NOT setteled. She waited 2 days (until she got her money back in her account) and then SENT MAE ANOTHER text asking for MORE MONEY BACK for the FIRST NIGHT SHE STAYED!!! Here's what she text me... "Hi Joshua, I would like a full refund for the night I stayed...because of how cold it was and the dust blowing from the vents, I got sick and am still recovering. The cabin is falling apart on the outside and I had to clean the toilet myself. I have been an airbnb host and when I had an unhappy guest, I always issued a refund. I think that is only fair in this case as well." I felt I had did enough already, as I had given her Exactly what she asked for. in the end, there was NO black dust and I believe she does this type of thing (if she thinks she can get away with. it) and SCAMS people.
