Peaceful holiday cottage between forest and coast. Well equipped with comfy furniture and woodburning stove. Lots of outdoor space with great walks and wildlife right on your doorstep.

Situated within the Suffolk Coast AONB, the cottage is very close to Butley Priory. Snape Maltings, (home to the annual Aldeburgh Music Festival) and the village of Orford (which boasts an artisan bakery, local shops, fish sold fresh from the quay and several traditional Suffolk pubs) are a short drive away.

The space
Brookes Cottage is a converted barn building nestled next to a Suffolk farmhouse (Brookes) with 16th century origins.

We generate our own electricity from solar panels on site and central heating is provided by a wood pellet boiler (and your own wood burning stove, if you want to feel really cosy).

The cottage has a double bedroom with superking size bed and a bathroom with bath and shower. The living room has a large comfy sofa and armchairs and a dining table that seats four. An electric hob and cooker, kettle, toaster and dishwasher are provided in the kitchen area, as well plenty of cooking utensils and a store cupboard of basic ingredients - perfect for self-catering.

Where you’ll be

Butley, England, United Kingdom

The cottage is situated down a private track in a tranquil and rural location with views over fields and marshes.

It is just a short walk from wedding venue Butley Priory. The village pub The Oyster serves good pub food and has a small but well-stocked community shop.

Brookes Cottage provides the perfect base for walking and birdwatching around the local area, with sandy tracks leading down to the Butley Creek and RSPB reserve Boyton Marshes and the Sandlings Forest also just a few minutes' walk away. Situated on Suffolk's Heritage Coast, it is also well positioned for exploring the surrounding towns and villages including Orford, Aldeburgh and Southwold, and for enjoying the music and culture of the Aldeburgh Music Festival at Snape Maltings.
