Where you’ll be

Belmopan, Cayo District, Belize

Beautiful farming community. Meet real farmers and see real farms, see the underrated beauty of small scale agricultural Belize. Great place to walk, jog, hike or bike.

Our favorite places in the neighborhood:

Agua Viva Road: Bike or hike the winding road through the jungle filled with enchanting sights and sounds.

Hummingbird Highway: One of the most scenic drives on Earth. Featured in Time Magazine.

White Rock Farm: Goat milk and luxurious hand-made cheeses on a real animal farm.

Scotchie's in Belmopan: Authentic Caribbean food. We love the soups and jerk chicken.

Lamanai Chocolate: Home of the "Chocolate Experience" on a real Mayan operated Chocolate farm.

Pasquale's in Belmopan: Best calzones, subs and salads around in our opinion.

St Hermann's Cave: Great short hikes. Cave tubing also an option (with licensed guide).

Blue Hole National Park: Swim under the shade of jungle canopy in a naturally formed, flowing cenote.

Country Barn: Amazing ice cream! Perfect after a swim in Blue Hole. We do it all the time :)

Art Box: The best souvenirs Belize has to offer in a wonderfully relaxing environment.

Timbercraft: Affordable family carved wood and stone sculptures. They also offer classes. Ask for Greg or Ernest.

Roaring Creek Golf Course: Play 9 holes enmeshed in a green and blue wonderland. Scenic fun and good exercise.

Belize Zoo: Jaguars, various birds, crocodiles, tapirs, monkeys, and so many other jungle friends all in one place!

During your stay

Your humble hosts are Natalya and Jason. City folks we moved to Belize from bustling Denver, Colorado and landed initially on the beaches of seaside Placencia. After some time (about a year) the sea lost its allure and we began to explore what more Belize truly has to offer. We stumbled upon a small affordable piece of land for sale in the jungle and bought it with no real plan. Bit by bit we were introduced to very skilled artisans in the area: a master builder, an amazing carpenter, expert farmer (all these live nearby!) and then a painting pastor, a concrete wizard, and finally some wooden sculptors. Faced with limitless options and potential the house, farm and guesthouse rapidly took shape. It is, of course, still undergoing regular upgrades! "Yada yada yada", as they say, we went from beach bums to farmer hoteliers :) As hosts and farmers and as Belizean residents we are truly learning new things every day, and we greatly enjoy sharing what we have learned with our guests. We live upstairs and always available to help you with any questions or concerns any time of the day or night.
