The Boathouse of Umiam- stop here for an additional day towards the end of your Meghalaya trip; you may decide to rewrite a few pages of your travel diary.
Spend a night in this beautifully done boathouse, anchored to a secluded island, viewing the mighty Umiam lake around you.
Enjoy the warm hospitality of the Naga-Khasi family, living in the island with no other human habitation. Thrilling right!!
Perfect getaway for friends, families and couples seeking a peaceful stay beyond urban limits.

The space
The fully furnished house boat is available for the guests. A studio with a balcony and an attached bathroom.
Most appropriate for couples and small families.
We also host small groups of friends.

Guest access
The entire island, the boathouse and the lake (if you have a boat).

Other things to note
Complimentary morning tea is served to the guests. Breakfast, snacks and dinner are payable. Lunch is served to guests staying with us for more than 1 night.
Guests are required to communicate their meal preferences in advance. We serve fresh home cooked food, with the limited resources we have in our kitchen. We do not have refrigeration facilities.

The boathouse is powered with a solar cell which is adequate to run a bulb for 4-5hours in the evening and to charge a few mobiles/cameras. During monsoon, the solar panel fails to charge up completely. Guests are requested to carry heir own powerbanks, as required.

Most of our guests prefer to sit back, relax and enjoy the breathtaking view of the lake from the balcony.
You may also like to drop in to your only neighbours, your local hosts, for a cup of tea.
Forest hikes, nature walks, country boat rides can also be arranged.

The houseboat is anchored at the Lumpongdeng island. There is only one family living in the island and they take care of the guests.
The island has a beautiful hiking trail through the forest, most suited for bird watchers and nature lovers.
If you find a boatman passing by, don't miss the chance to hop on to his country boat for a free ride (or with some tips).

poul&arin are corporate professionals and passionate offbeat travellers. They spend the holidays to reach the unexplored, learn the more meaningful ways of life and bring their joyful experience back to the urban friends. On a typical day in their vacation, poul peeps into the village kitchens to pick a few culinary tips while arin is seen roaming in the local market, talking to the local happy faces. Together, they search for the smallest cafe, the tastiest snack, the simplest souvenir, the cutest kid around. On their journeys through the land of cultural diversity, they acquire rich experience of traditional lifestyle and rural luxury. At AirBnB, poul&arin welcome you to experience the magnificent local hospitality in some of the most beautiful yet lesser explored places in and around India. The journey begun with North East India... Bhutan is the latest addition.
