The space
Cabin 14 is a stand alone cabin ideal for couples or friends that don't mind sharing a bed. It's an open floor plan with a queen sized bed. The room is equipped with a mini fridge, toaster, microwave, 32" cable TV, and coffee maker (and coffee, sugar, creamer), and most importantly, air conditioning!

The cabin is in front of the New River with a private porch and its own hammock. Kick back and enjoy views of the New River, iguanas, crocodiles, hummingbirds, and even the occasional sugar barge.

The bathroom has a semi-private, frosted glass door.

The New River that runs alongside the property was called Tzul Wuinik Cob by the Mayas which translates to "river of strange faces".

Where you’ll be

Orange Walk, Orange Walk District, Belize

Orange Walk is a true feel of small town Northern Belize. If you're coming in from Belize City, look out for the sugar factory at the entrance of the town (you'll see two smoke stacks on your right hand side). Acres and acres of cane fields line the highways and villages surrounding Orange Walk. We are also home to 2 of the 3 rum distilleries in Belize. An 8-minute drive will take you to the center of town. The street leading to the market is blocked off for pedestrians on Saturday mornings. Take a stroll and buy some fresh fruit.

Orange Walk is not one of the traditional tourist destinations in Belize. Come here for Mayan Temples, culture, Mestizo cuisine, rum, and friendly people.

If you like adventure, we offer tour of Lamanai Archaeological Site that depart from the riverside deck on the property. More info about this in the "other things to note" section.

....Or you can relax and do nothing. If you don't want to leave the property, Maracas Bar and Grill is located onsite (open for lunch & dinner Wednesday through Sunday). Stop by and have a chat with the bartender. Jason Kelly can show you his 1TB music collection and Sandro can show you his tattoo collection!

BREAKFAST
We offer a free 8-minute shuttle at 7:30am to our sister property which is on the Main St. Cocina La Malinche is open for breakfast every day. Spend anywhere from usd$2 to usd $7. Arrangements must be made the day before, so please let us know at check-in if you'd like a shuttle ride.

Orange Walk is also known for its tacos! Ask any employee where you can get the best tacos and watch the debate start. All taco vendors set up shop at the crack of dawn and stay until they are sold out. You'll get 3 for bzd $1 at pretty much all shops. They all make their own pepper sauce, so make sure to ask for some if you like spicy food!

I like just about everything in life except cruelty to others and to animals. One of the best things about being a host is the people I meet, from different backgrounds and perspectives. I enjoy running and biking. "Don't be satisfied with stories, how things have gone with others. Unfold your own myth.” ― Rumi
